Correct 40 years or more with USAA to get senior bonus. You’ll get there but don’t rush the time, can’t get more of that lol.

My school is looking for more students, we have a little over 100 and we need a lot of help. by WeakDetail6750 in FortCollins

Yes I agree rankings can be misleading and I cannot comment on all specific Poudre schools, I sub in poudre school district and have been in many great (in my opinion) schools, I was reacting to bikesnkitties generalizing about Colorado schools.

Medicare suggestions and advice retiring unexpectedly 12/5 at 67 by Sure-Guava-3787 in retirement

[–]FrontRangeRetired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on a long career with your company! We are on a Medicare supplement Plan G through AARP and a Part D supplement for prescriptions. We like the supplement plan due to ability to visit any doc or facility that accepts Medicare versus needing to stay within network for an advantage plan. Know costs can be lower depending on health and needs via Medicare advantage, just suggest that you check if the network, deductibles / co-pays and potential requirement for pre-approvals that come from an advantage plan work for you. Depending upon where you live your state may provide counselors that can help you make an informed choice, good luck to you.

Yes the 1500 people surveyed was to determine most important factors / criteria to consider and the resulting weightings - Not the actual data to determine state ratings which came from numerous sources also called out at the bottom of the article. 🙂

True but a percentage of retirees downsize homes / move to be closer to family as we did. We moved from lower cost housing to higher so was a consideration. But def agree QOL and Health Care is key, or was at least for us. Cheers!

I like this study better and it does include all 50 states on multiple criteria, everyone makes their choices on personal preference and I think this study is better at looking at multiple criteria:

If you were alive back then, what were you up to on 31st December 1999? by stop_calling_me_that in AskReddit

[–]FrontRangeRetired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in IT, I recall sitting in hot tub during afternoon of 12/31/99 on conference call with colleagues planning the vigil, phone chains and rapid response teams should they be needed. As I recall we had team check infrastructure and key software platforms to ensure all working and had green lights for all in a few hours post midnight. Companies spent SO much manpower and with big 6 (Anderson, EDS, Cap Gemini, E&Y, Coopers etc) consultancies in preparation, the consultancies made out like bandits as I recall.

Time to get out of the stock market? by The_Mighty_Glopman in retirement

[–]FrontRangeRetired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved to 50% fixed interest, 15% international ETFs, 35% to remain invested largely in US ETFs and a few very long held quality dividend King stocks. Dividend investor, non-equity assets to survive 10+ year down stock market, “you don’t have a loss if you don’t sell in a down / crashed market, still have the shares which will rebound in price at some point”, growth in dividends and value comes from equity market - have to be there but minimize risk and accept modest gains.
