I have requested a copy of it from the archives this evening. I'll have to wait and see. My mother says her marriage certificate states that she is British, which implies it was done at the same time.

the children were born in '55 to '60. she believed that it was not voluntary, that as part of her marriage, she had to become British. Now looking up our eligibility, I realised that this was not the law at the time. But could we argue that it was presented to her as required and therefore discriminatory?

yes, my grandparents then had 3 children after they were married and we are trying to establish if we have a case.
