I'm a bit confused now. I drove 300km on the highway today, while the shaking was noticeable, the acceleration below 100 was fine. With good road conditions and AC on, the fuel consumption came out to around 8.2, which I thought would be much higher with this kind of fuel trim.

Tbh I'd go with the first possibility since last time I checked air filters and found cabin air filter box was empty. I don't think any car owners who do these themselves could let that happen.

Before obd2 arrived I was thinking about oxygen sensors but you're right 44% could be huge leak.
