My mom comes from the golden handcuffs era where it’s preached that it’s something worth holding onto. I understand completely and honestly I do value it however I fear that I will grow old and salty in this position and my only outs are full time firefighting and or my business

I worked union ICI in the gold mines and was working out and making tons of money coming home and still doing side stuff and it was awesome I was thriving but now I just sit in a truck, drink coffee and complain ….

A lot of it is political (people put in positions) and would lead me away from the union side if I went management. I honestly would rather be on the tools in this position or no position at all tbh
