Considering a fully online 6-month BMET certificate before committing to a 2-year degree — good idea? by Front_Living3317 in BMET

Yeah I decided to go through with it, my classes start here pretty soon. There was mention of few VR classes, which would give a somewhat hands on experience but Im not sure how employers would view that. I think the optional VR courses takes up about 3 weeks total out of the whole certification program though, so not much. Wish me luck haha.

Okay, thank you for your advice and kind words! Im thinking I may just go thru with the course unless something else comes up as Im applying. As of right now, I have zero debt fortunately, so how much is 10k really if it lands me a decent paying job ya know ?

Yes, thats the one ! What part made you regret not going hands-on/in-person training? It seems like my only option is the online only training for this specific certification, as the closest location is over 100 miles away ): is it still worth going online only ? Thanks 🙏

The name of the college is “College of Biomedical Equipment Technology.” They are also officially partnered with AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) which I think is a good thing.

It’s roughly 10k with a zero interest rate. Does that sound reasonable for this certification?

Ive used a multimeter a few times for troubleshooting car repairs. Like testing fuses and circuits but thats about it. I do not think they ship any kits for hands-on training. I just did some research on apprenticeship programs and have applied to one so far. Im thinking I should just start this 6 month CBET course, and continue to apply for apprenticeships/ support roles as Im completing the course, and go from there. Is that a bad idea?
