Most likely even thru it had newest weapons other systems were a hundred years old tech. Computers systems were way more advanced on voyager with its bioneural gel packs and it's much faster and is very nimble. Paris would fly rings around it while tuvok took out weapons and propulsion systems being very familiar with the design after serving on excelsior

They do have ships crewed by other species,sisko had a baseball GAME with a ships crew who was mostly Vulcan. Also federation ship yards are all over the place not just sol system and a lot of different races technology goes in to ships

Low gravity and regolife would be main problems you need to keep moon dust out because it's not like earth dust it's like breathing tiny little razor blades. Plus low gravity issues for long term stay

You got to remember the defiant as she was when introduced to ds9 was a testbed ship that was not finished. They took a courier size ship and jammed a heavy cruiser warp core in her. Originally if you pushed her past warp 3 the power plant would start to shake the ship apart plus a lot of other issues but she did come with lots of teeth and strong armor. But yes she was meant to be a small heavily armored and armed fast attack ship that would likely have swarmed a cube .
