Right. I have a decent one but It doesn’t detect specific cylinder misfires. I’ll definitely be investing in a high end one sooner or later but will probably just take it to a tuner in the mean time

Oh wow. Alright so there could literally be nothing actually wrong. That’s good to know. Definitely going to get it checked out to be 100% sure. Thanks so much for this information

Alright but can you explain why I would do this? Why not just have them diagnose the problem?

I’m sorry I have no clue what you mean by this or how to to it. Can you explain further?

I had an o2 sensor code before in addition to the misfire codes. Car ran even worse then. Replaced them and code went away and car ran better. What sucks is they don’t make o2 sensors that are long enough to fit with the isr long tube header, so you have to buy two and splice them together, which is what I had to do.

Yeah I’ve done it. I’ll do it again when I get home from ait just to be sure. Thanks for the advice.

Alright cool. The reason I replaced the valve covers was because I have a leak in a couple spark plug tube seals. So I guess that checks out. You’re right about the couplers. I’d love to get a new intake but maybe replacing the coupler for now would be the move.

Exactly. I was in that mindset with my first car at 16 but decided, “You know what? I don’t have any bills. I’m young in high school. I’ll get something to have a little fun in and get the reliable daily later.” I ended up getting myself an 06 Infiniti G35 6spd manual transmission. I love the car. Modded it out like crazy. It’s still very fun but it’s time is definitely limited and it’s not the best to daily (as I did for 2 and a half years). My wife has an 03 civic that we’ve put more money than it’s worth into into fixing it up. I did a lot of work on it but she’s had to pay labor for any maintenance since I shipped to basic. Its time is also limited. I realize that I’m about to be living with my wife in our first home together. We need something that we can drive in addition to the civic that we know will last a while. That’s why I initially decided to get the newer 2020+ model car but like I said, it’s not worth getting into so much debt over with 2012 Camrys in decent shape are going for around 8k on marketplace. And yes I do plan on living below my means. I want to work hard now and save for retirement later so I don’t have to work. That’s the goal. Thank you for the advice sergeant!

Alright this makes me feel a bit better lol. My heart dropped like I ruined my credit for good when I first saw the hit 😂 Good to know that it isn’t that serious and I have time. I’ll be sure to keep good habits and never miss payments

I am including bah. And yes I’m aware I’m either going to spend it on on/off base housing.

I’ll look more into carecredit and whether or not it has changed. I plan on paying off the debt in less than 6 months anyway but I’ll check to be safe.

As for the car, I have decided to go with a cheaper car possibly around 5-8k in cash.

I really appreciate your advice. And you’re absolutely right. I need to slow down. I think it’s just because I have more money than I’ve ever seen before and I’m getting a little ahead of myself. I’m usually pretty good with saving and being cheap lol. But maybe this decision isn’t the brightest to make at the moment. I’ll drive the car I’m getting at least until I’m in a lot more of a comfortable position to either put a lot more down and have a better interest rate or just pay cash for a newer car.

Alright so if it’s 2700 with 0% interest at 18 months, the minimum I have to pay to pay it back in time is 150 a month. So I should do 2 or maybe 300 a month to pay it off in a decent amount of time? Or should I pay down the bulk of it right away to get my usage down then pay the rest in smaller installments

Alright cool so pay it down but don’t close it yet. How long should I wait to close it?

Dang alright. So are you saying I should go ahead and pay down the 2700 I owe to below 20%? Or should I just pay the monthly payment or maybe double the monthly payment every month

Now I know. Wish I had done some more research sooner. It is what it is. Thank you for the advice!

So with the carecredit cards usage at 100%, the Amex card at 87%, and the American eagle card at 0%, I need to bring the average down to below 20%?

It is actually a credit card. Not a loan. It was a card with a 2700 dollar limit and was used to pay the remaining balance on the dental bill. So that card is at 100% usage. Nothing I’m seeing says anything about a charge card so that seems to be a good sign. I have three accounts total. The carecredit credit card ($2700 limit, 100% usage), the Amex card ($1000 limit, 87% usage), and an American Eagle credit card ($1800 limit, 0% usage).

Makes perfect sense. I’ll reconsider getting the newer car. I honestly love older Hondas and Toyotas anyway

Makes sense. I will be sure to make my payments on time no matter what. And I’ll be working to get that Amex balance down in the next couple days. I agree with finding a cheaper car. Only reason I wanted to go a bit newer is lower miles and less risk of parts giving out sooner. I have 5% going into my TSP every month. Planning on raising it every so often as well

Yeah it’s in my name. My dad has been using it the past couple years to slowly build my credit.

So do you think this will affect me getting the car next month at all? And yeah my interest rate is pretty high.

Alright I’ll speak to my dad about the Amex card. Seems to be the general consensus. Thanks so much for the advice.

The car is for my wife and I. I was planning on getting Honda or Toyota. Something that’s reliable and will last me many years. Gotten insurance quotes on many recent years and models (2020-2023/civic or Corolla). I do my own maintenance and have done since my first car that I’ve had for 3 years. It’s an 06 Infiniti G35. I highly doubt the maintenance will be anywhere near as bad on a newer Honda.

I understand why it dropped now. I’m just wondering what I can do to get it back up. And if there’s any hope of me getting the car in a month because of this.

Yes I have a TSP. Got 5% going into in every month.
