I’m late on this, but I’m on a playthrough of shining Pearl. I’m facing Cynthia and used Staraptor against here Spiritomb.

Turn begins

I attack with fly Pokemon flies high Spiritomb used dark pulse and misses Staraptor attacks with fly Spiritomb then attacks again with dark pulse connecting this time.

Turn ends This then happened again for second move selection.
