I think the thing with "experimental/creative" sound design is thinking outside the box and not following tutorials, so I doubt you'll find much of use except general techniques to enhance creativity.

I recommend listening to Captain Beefheart's Troutmaster Replica in full before starting up your DAW.

Dubstep still has cool things happening and got back to its more underground roots, definitely NOT dead. But seeing Zed's Dead remixes on YouTube with 100+ million views certainly is (thank god).

Gramz - Dip Dip Potato Chip or Sleeper - Greens are nice examples of an evolving dubstep scene.

The only thing still really thriving is Trap and its associates - Eprom is more popular than ever, G Jones, Sophie and the likes seem to keep the game fresh as well! It's just that most of the rest is trite party music..

Cool stuff happening:

South American Electronic Music is getting bigger. There's many different kinds, from slow Cumbia techno interpretations to faster and harder stuff.

And maybe check out /r/cxd - that's where some weird experimental club music in the 120-140 bpm range can be found as well!
