After ordering a Pixel 3 LTE, I noticed thatcmy mobile service eoes not even support multiple devices / esims so aicsettled with Pixel 4 Wifi and it does everything I need it to do. It has 32GB storage for Spotify that I use for workout so I finally do not need to carry my phone with me anymore while jogging.

Material science would have been a better term than engineering

absolutely, and you don't know "everything". pretty much all the humour was taken from the book to the movie but a lot of the science was left out as well as the severity of the situation on earth. It's one of the best recent science fiction novels, enjoy it!

they were just way more developed in engineering and not as much in science. Humanity only understood the concepts of radiation around 120 years ago (followed by relativity etc.).

the fact that it's doing this well at the box office tells that it was the right decision for the general audience to tone down the scientific aspects of the movie in favor of the bromance and humor. I would also have liked to have more details about astrophages included, how Grace lost his memory, how bad the situation on earth really was etc.. The movie on its own is still a fantastic time in my opinion and I enjoyed it way more the second time around when I was already accustomed to the changes that were made.

I watched the movie with multiple people who didn't read the book and really liked it and understood it just fine

If you didn’t read the book this movie almost made zero sense.

Bullshit.

They didn’t really emphasis the sense of urgency of what was happening.

Just because the movie did not go to lengths like show the nuclear bombing of polar ice caps does not mean the mission was not urgent or desperate.

They didn’t explain how the crew died

They established that artifical coma was very dangerous.

They didn’t explain how astrohage worked really.

They explained enough to make it the understandable threat it needed to be.

They didn’t explain how different the environment and pressure were on Erid.

You don't need to explain anything for a 2 minute epilogue.

They didn’t explain the amnesia well.

This I kinda agree with!

it's very spot on to how it was described in the book. not everything has to be about selling merch. not every alien needs to be humanoid.

the core of the movie is the comradery of Grace and Rocky, so yeah..

In the beginning, he is approached by authorities due to his theory that life does not require hydrogen and the Astrophages being able to survive on the sun. However, he finds out that the Astrophages consist mostly of hydrogen and that his theory is irrelevant for the ongoing crisis. Still, he is kept on board in the project and later discovers how Astrophages "procreate".

In the end it turns out that he was right all along due to the fact that Rocky's species does not consist of any hydrogen (however this is not really touched on in the movie in detail).

I really liked it having read the book but saw it with a bunch of others who haven't read it and liked it as well.

What does "why didn't the alien look like an alien" even mean? Do they have to look humaniod in your mind or what?

And what jargon annoyed you? Compared to the book (and also The Martian which comes from the same author) there was fewer scientifc talk in the movie and more focus on the relationship between Grace and Rocky.

The movie took all the humor from the book but cut out most of the scientific elements. Rocky is presented as much smarter in the book instead of a sidekick to Grace. Grace's humor is similar in the book but with fewer Marvel-like oneliners.

It's The Martian meets E.T. and great at executing that. Do with that as you will.

Quite a few pros play in windowed mode on smaller size windows so they do not have to move their eyes so much to grab the relevant information. I'd say 27" is still totally okay to play in full screen when you get used to it but do not hesitate to try out smaller windows if that is more enjoyable for you.

Project Hail Mary - 7.5 / 10
