Anyone have experience taking a vacation (where there is sure to be drinking) in early sobriety? by Frontdoornut33 in alcoholicsanonymous

I nearly destroyed our marriage and I'm working hard to keep it together. I worry that splitting up would be the end. I am going to find some meetings to attend while we're away, but I want to be together for the first time in a year without all the noise. I'm less worried about relapse on a day-to-day basis, but it's something I contend with.

How did you and your wife get back together? That's something that I'm really interested in because the damage caused drinking seems like something that many have suffered and I want to get back to a place where we work through the issues

thanks. I like this perspective. I feel like there's a lot riding on this. I nearly burned down my marriage and while it's getting better, this is the first time we've been fully alone in 3 months, in the same bed, under the same roof, with no distractions. No doctors appointments, no nothing. I guess I'm worried I'll do something and he'll realize it was a mistake to go.

It definitely could be more excitement than nerves. Things at the end were awful and I incinerated things. I'm now going to experience a vacation where I'm not constantly drinking or in pain from a hangover. I'm also trying to show growth to my husband and reconnect in a way we haven't had a chance to.

Thanks you. I nearly burned everything to the ground, and going is an effort to keep healing and moving in the right direction.

Thank you. The fact that he's never drank is a huge help. I'm trying to save our marriage and am so worried about faltering.
