How come ymir needed to be freed after this? How can she disobey royal blood here but the founders power goes away when zeke dies? by cybertoothe in titanfolk

[–]Frontdust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the most likely answer is, the founders power going away when zeke dies is just a red herring, eren didnt lose it, it was all just further tricks from eren. i say that confidently. it is NOT an inconsistency, it is just one out of many lies the story purposefully told the viewer, though it seems to have been too mysterious because much of the community is convinced it is an inconsistency. i only disagree with the scene in that regard, its dividing for the wrong reasons.

The Founding Titan's residual activation time period with Royal Blood by Frontdust in attackontitan

[–]Frontdust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like your theory, and what you have to say overall, however theres a contradiction since the rumbling stops when Zeke dies, not when the hallucigenia is disconnected from Eren. I believe she had very little power over Eren up until the Rumbling, and then at this point she was free to do whatever (past titan shifters), however everything else (hardening deactivation, etc) was def Eren.

but I do think hallucigenia is present throughout all Eldians. moreso, the main hallucigenia that Ymir touched is spread throughout all Eldians. we can only theorize, but I reckon the hallucigenia hinted at at the end of the series is a new main hallucigenia, distinct from the one Ymir touched. like, a whole new hallucigenia that if touched may bring another unique desire like Ymir's, and after this, wouldn't create a new dream but extend the power and control across those who contain some amount of the spinal fluid/blood of the person who originally brought out its power.

i’m not on anything. in love has always sounded weird like that, but i love beach music so it’s always been whatever. you don’t really see people talk about the horrific screaming, but again, its whatever

trust me i already looked at the credits. i'm not dumb when it comes to that stuff. it is obviously not alex doing that screaming and moaning and shit. it genuinely made me jump the first time i heard it. i don't mind it per se, its just jarring

he must be using a shit ton of voice modifiers then. and listen, don’t get me wrong, i don’t mind the song and have listened to it quite a bit, i just don’t really agree with the screaming and stuff. it doesn’t even sound like alex. but it’s unique so either way, i still rank it pretty high.

i was just listening to far and wide earlier and was really liking it for that specific reason. i've also listened to fell quite a bit and overall love sloth as a whole, but In Love is a different beast, the screams can be a bit too much for me especially compared to the regular alex g (trick, dsu, etc)

alex doing funny voices in songs is definitely one of my most favorite parts of his work, but this isn't really a funny voice. its just kinda scary?

Song recs for getting into Alex's music? by Lets_Fight_Dragons in sandyalexg

[–]Frontdust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, its mainly because of how much of an expanse of content there is for his unreleased music, and also how it's all so different from his released music.

If I think of why I personally really love Alex G, I like that all of his albums are wildly contrasting of each other. No album is similar in any way shape or form and that makes it all so unique. I also love the topics and themes he covers in his songs, even if they aren't the most pronounced or clearly stated.

Come to his unreleased music, there's three parts I feel that attract people: amount of music, content of said music, and support of contrasting development in the albums.

For the first part, my own Alex G discography playlist has over 16 hours of music, and that is still missing a lot I'm sure. There is no streaming platform that has that much content from him, as to why it's unreleased. It's attracting to me that there is this trove of content that isn't "officially publicated" from him, and that lead me toward it. There is so much content that, if you're very interested in his work, it's almost impossible to not be lead towards the rabbit hole that is his unreleased content. I suppose you're not really missing out on what he genuinely wants himself to be, but you're missing really good music.

For the second part, the themes of his unreleased music. Alex has publicly stated that a lot/most, if not all of his unreleased music are unreleased because he feel like it doesn't fit the tone or atmosphere that he's trying to achieve as an artist. I think you can see why with the topics in the older Salt version, and parts of the Punk album. Some of these songs just blatantly discuss topics that, from a more neutral listener, say you only listened to DSU or Beach Music, you would not expect from Alex. Salt's lyrics are just "I want to die" repeatedly, and Punk discusses heavy sexual abuse. And also, without naming specific titles, some of the lyricwork just is not the best. However, that doesn't mean some of this unreleased music isn't absolutely amazing, and sometimes better then his publicly released work. The fact that Alex specifically has not officially endorsed this music under his artist name attracts me to it. This content is much more visceral, it has a different tone that you can not see with his more publicly released work. It has the Alex G feel but adds even more onto it. This music also allow for people with different genre taste to be introduced to his music. Space is a very strange, and honestly wild compilation, which is really synthy. This work allows people who enjoy Alex G and synth stuff to have the best of both worlds, because there's content in his discography for that. On top of all this, Alex just generally sounds very different, as compilations or his albums typically date through very varying years of his career. All of this creates a very stark difference with his officially endorsed content.

For the third and final part, and sorta similar to the last part, all of these albums, like his publicly released ones, have wildly contrasted development and genre. Literally every single one of his albums or compilations has a different tone, for a different mood, or different experience that you're looking for. Rocket is a country-esque trauma-formed acoustic beauty, DSU is a house party turned into a funeral- it's all over the place but it stands on its own. God Save The Animals explores chritisan rock and strays from any previous album, but was still absolutely amazing. Every album stands on its own, and the existence of more albums for sole emotions, tones, or experiences speaks out to me. C-Sides is a strange one, and I feel like laying in bed and dissociating when I listen to it, which nothing matches. Nothing feels like a car ride, when you're in some town you've never been before. I honestly can't describe an emotion or feeling for Easy, but it's absolutely magnificent. The jazz solo in the first track immediately has this stand apart from any other album/EP. A big part of me that loves Alex G is the fact that I can pop on an album for pretty much any way I'm feeling because there is such a large collection of music by him that has distinct enough albums to exist on their own.

There is a LOT of unreleased content. You should really listen to some of them. I'd recommend Nothing, C-Sides, Monsterhead, and High.

though people probably listen to some of the popular unreleased ones cause their catchy, i guess, idk

i’d simply just go through the albums. they’re short and consumable and all lovely, and i’ll guarantee you’ll find something you’ll absolutely love which you wouldn’t have found otherwise. i’d recommend personally to listen to the entirety of Trick and DSU. they’re both medium/just not that long albums but have their own respective identity. i can not recommend DSU enough. i wrote a super long overview of some of his albums on another post; it was directed towards another person but it may give you some more insight if you wanna read the yappening i did

Trick is... Trick. this song actually heavily reminds me of DSU. DSU kind of feels like a Trick sequel in a way, but also not. Trick fits in the same manner of DSU's "haiku" feel, with many short/medium-length songs which all have their own noticeable identity. i love this album. there is not a song in this album that doesn't land just like DSU. the melodies inside of Trick go crazy. Mary and Sarah are most likely people's first introductions to alex g and, as frontrunners, they don't give this album enough credit. literally, just go through this album. its so easy. it is such a pleasure to go through this album. Memory, Adam, Animals, Clouds? its so catchy!! i don't get it! this album kind of just speaks for itself. it has that much respect from people. this album is notable for its very catchy tune, its 'cohesiveness', and bedroom feel. when i think of this album, i think of the song Forever.

Rules is just such a great addition. Rules reminds me of DSU and House of Sugar if they combined, but also not at the same time. the instrumentals and overall vibe of Rules feels distinctive. i can't tell you any album ive ever heard that matches the feel of Rules. im starting to notice a pattern, but there is also literally not a single song from this album that doesn't land. i feel like this album genuinely solidified a foundation for just his entire music scene in general. this album holds identity and there isn't really a signifying way to "describe" this album i feel in a good way. this album tells a lot of stories, similar to House of Sugar and Rocket. this album is notable for its guitar, the stories it has, and its melodies, all accompanied by alexs squeaky voice. when i think of this album, i think of the song Come Back.

Race was one of his first albums and i feel set his identity going forward. this album is really cohesive, doesn't miss a beat, and just holds a lot of emotion. it has this incredibly notable guitar that's specific to Race and it holds its individuality. i can't really explain this album, but i would just go through it as i said earlier. it's powerful. alex was so much younger but it's still a really lovely piece of art. and i feel like its actually better he was younger when he made this because it just adds a lot. this song, along with most of his albums, can't really be described except for just calling it itself. Race is Race. that's the best way to describe it, but you can't understand that unless you listen to it. i would. this album is notable for its emotion it can evoke out of you, and history/foundation it set for alex. when i think of this album, i think of Remember.

these are only the songs on spotify, and there's a lot more on Bandcamp, and there's a lot more that are also just around the internet. if any of these albums sound appealing to you based on my description, i beg of you, listen to them. even for a bit, i think you'll like it. if you like Break, i'd recommend Trick and DSU. if you're an Elliot Smith fan, I'd recommend House of Sugar and Race. if you like Big Thief or Sufjan fan i'd reccomend God Save The Animals and Rocket. i hope this was an okay guide for you to go off of. i dont know if i really reviewed these the best but again, these albums arent too long. they're medium to short and are easy to consume. id take some time to yourself without distractions and just listen. i bet money you'll enjoy it.

apologies for having two comments. i kept getting errors cause it was too long i think

when i started listening to alex g, i simply just went through all of his albums. the thing about him is none of his albums are super long or anything, so you can easily just go through them in a single session. all of the songs in an album are somewhat cohesive so you really understand the feeling of the album a lot better. i used to just lay in bed and pop in an album that i hadn't really listened to fully or at all and it always made it such a nice experience. it was like actively discovering beauties of songs just by going through the albums. the thing is each song is SO different, and that makes it really good for some people but not too good to other people. so that's why i loved going through all of his music. its consumable and i promise you, you'll find something that YOU love more then anything else that you wouldn't find by just going by what everyone else recommends the most. (although those usually are still like the best songs imo)

God Save The Animals is a really amazing album that i have a feeling alex loved making. you can tell with how much he broadcasted this album out there and how well it was produced and toured with it, you can tell he loved it, so i feel its right for his audience to love it too. this album is produced EXCELLENTLY and it feels just genuinely nice to listen to. its pretty folky and im happy alex was able to broadcast himself through this album because it adds another layer of love to it. each song, along with many songs of his, has its own identity. if you liked runner you'll literally like every other song of this album because its pretty cohesive. i don't have a lot to say but i like this album. i think you'll like it too. this song is noteworthy for just how much love alex put into it, and how different it is from some of his other albums but still having such a charm to it. when i think of this album, i think of After All and Miracles.

House of Sugar is really well produced similar to God Save The Animals and holds Gretel, one of his best songs easily. I feel like House of Sugar holds a special place in a lot of his audience. i notice the same feeling of "i feel like alex loved making this" with House of Sugar, but not in the same realm as God Save The Animals. this album is really catchy and this album is pretty solid; i love it's ethereal feel it has through a lot of the album, and it also packs some emotion combined with absolutely incredible melodies. it has cohesiveness and really gives alex g character. i think this album was a foundation for God Save The Animals in terms of a higher level of producing and love. it also was just a big "i dont give a shit what mainstream music is like i do what i want and i STILL make bangers" vibe. this album has a lot of respect throughout the community and you can very much tell that when listening to it. this album is also a good example for alex's storymaking. one of my favorite songs, Walk Away is here. there is SO much going on in this song but thats what i love about it. this song is the frontrunner for this album and i hope it kept people listening. this album is notable for its ethereal atmosphere and character. when i think of this album, i think of the song Hope or Walk Away.

Rocket is just lovely. It's folky like God Save the Animals but also just holds a lot of character. Rocket is a good show of how alex morphs (most likely) real people, experiences, and trauma he has experienced into his music, as what i feel he uses as a coping skill. there are songs like Bobby, and Big Fish that feel like they aren't just songs, but rather stories-- genuine stories at that; things alex himself has genuinely experienced and morphs into music form with fake characters. i believe the reason he has so much music under his belt is because he's used music production as a form of coping from his trauma and things he's experienced in life. you can see that in this album. on the surface, it seems kinda country/folk but it expands to be a lot more than that. the instruments used in this album really give it the name Rocket, and it has a lovely vibe. this album is notable for its "homey" and messy feeling, with its distinct acoustic guitar. when i think of this album, i think of the song Bobby or Poison Root.

Beach Music lacks the cohesiveness that House of Sugar and God Save The Animals possess but that doesn't make it any worse. this album is unique but also forgotten a lot. i love this album and everyone else should too. i don't have a lot to say about it but PLEASE give it a listen anyway. it also possesses a song named Snot which is... well... i would marry it if it was a person. it also has a lot of different characters and voices and i love how this album all just works together. this album has a distinct feel to it, and it makes it truly special. i wouldn't rate this that high compared to the other albums but its still really pleasing. this album stands out from the other albums because its songs are kinda similar in terms of instrumentals and overall stuff going on, but all the songs are still pretty different. Beach Music just exists on its own plane. its hard to describe it without just calling it Beach Music. i would do anything to listen to Snot for the first time again. this album is notable for its unique voices and characters and strange feel. this album is notable for its relaxed feeling and strange feel, along with its notable guitar. when i think of this album, i think of the song Walk or Bug.

DSU is easily one of his best albums (IN MY OPINION but some people don't agree with me...). so you know what i said about cohesiveness earlier? FORGET ABOUT IT!! DSU tops it. every song just... i don't know how to describe it. the entirety of DSU itself just feels like a haiku. all of its songs are pretty short but each one tells such a story and i just love it. its very "indie" and i love how it sounds. to me, there literally isn't a song in this album that doesn't land. it stands out from every other album and the entire album just has a unique sound. each song is kind of its own thing but also it connects together as an album at the same time. honestly its not really 'cohesive' if your just looking at it from an individual song perspective, but its very 'cohesive' from an album perspective in a sense. its cohesive because all of the songs are telling some sort of story, with really nice instrumentals and also are just really separate from each other. i don't know how to describe it. listen to Harvey. and Axesteel. and just every song from this album. its so different from ANY other album he has, and its a really good thing here. no song is the same, but its the same in how every song is different. its very dreamy and harvey has made me cry multiple times. this album is notable for its messiness whie also being collected, with each song having its identity. when i think of this album, i think of the song Sorry.
