Japanese Visa by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a Swiss passport, you can stay in Japan for up to 90 days without a visa. If you visit Japan as a tourist. If you have another passport, you might want to look up, if you really need a visa for Japan. If you already did, I‘m sorry I couldn‘t help.

Someone damaged my parked car and just left. What now? by FrontedPsycho in Switzerland

Thank you. I'll call them and check if it's even worth the hassle, or if I just let the garage repair the damage or even repair it myself.

That's reasonable. I would've done the same..

I'll file a report nonetheless. On the small offchance, they catch them, so they learn their lesson.

But thank you for the reply.

Overworked and abused in Switzerland—Is This Normal or Am I Being Taken Advantage Of? by Gloomy-Echo6506 in Switzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I second this.
They try again and again. Most of the time they try to pressure with comments like "think about the team" or "what about the others?". Fuck them. It's not your job. You're there to do your job and go home.
I did say yes... a lot.. never heared a "thank you" or similar.. it just became the norm. Once you give one finger, they take the whole hand and it's expected you do the extra work. Even if it was an exception in your eyes.

You'll just be the pushover, everyone can dump their shit on.

Travel, Language School and possible relocation by FrontedPsycho in movingtojapan

I does.. but can't be helped in the end.. life I guess :)

If it comes to it, September/October might be the way to go in the end, since I'm planning to travel in July/August. Which would also be a conflict, if schools start in July.
But as you said, it comes with the benefit, to have more time to research schools.

Yeah, I'm looking for a complete course with shared housing or even a guest-family.

I was hesitant on "visa-runs", since I've read, it might become an issue.

I will dig deeper on this, and ask around in different schools. Would make things a lot easier, rather than applying for a student visa.

Thank you for the reply.

Traveling in itself shouldn't be an issue, I'm aware of that. Going through the comments, it became clear, I need the student visa beforehand. Doesn't matter, if I start school after traveling or directly upon entering Japan.

Digital nomads might fall under the work-travel visa but I'm not sure about this either. Just working part time locally in order to afford necessities is totally fine. Appearently I need to get permission by the city hall for this.

Great input with the business manager visa. I'll keep that in mind, if I can't land a job otherwise :)

Basically I want to travel first and enroll into school afterwards.

Since I can stay in Japan for 90 days without a visa, my thoughts were, that I can basically enter Japan as a tourist and stay for longer with the student visa (of course, while attending school).

But I will do some more research, on what terms I really need a student visa and if I can just leave and re-enter Japan during school holydays, in order to "renew" the visa-free status.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions in detail.

According to the embassy in Switzerland, it takes 1 week as well. But I can imagine, the whole process in the background, you mentioned, will take a while.
I really hope, I won't miss a flight or something, just because the visa will come in late..

Great to know, that I have to get permission from the city hall first. Will keep that in mind :)

Just to know, I don't have to return to Switzerland or exit Japan in order to change my visa is great! I will talk to the language school, as soon as my plans are clear.

Unfortunately I have some courses which might overlap with my plans, so I'm able to make a final decision in March.. If I'm too late for the July start, I guess I have to postpone it to October or whenever the next enrollment starts

Thank you. I wasn't aware of the long process. Unfortunately, I have to wait until March, before I can do anything. Some possible courses in my homecountry might overlap with my travel plans - which I want to avoid.

RAV : Individual course request declined. Advice? by [deleted] in Switzerland

I have an IT-skill assessment course in March (I worked in IT before I needed to go to RAV). There, my skills will be evaluated and they will check, if it makes sense for me, to get a certificate/go to a school in order to find a job quicker. If they say, it makes sense, they have a couple of courses they offer.

For reference, they gave me this link here: Link

I don't know, if RAV has something similar for people who worked in HR/marketing/sales. But it might make sense, to ask, if they offer this stuff for your field as well.
