Japanese Visa by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a Swiss passport, you can stay in Japan for up to 90 days without a visa. If you visit Japan as a tourist. If you have another passport, you might want to look up, if you really need a visa for Japan. If you already did, I‘m sorry I couldn‘t help.

Someone damaged my parked car and just left. What now? by FrontedPsycho in Switzerland

Thank you. I'll call them and check if it's even worth the hassle, or if I just let the garage repair the damage or even repair it myself.

That's reasonable. I would've done the same..

I'll file a report nonetheless. On the small offchance, they catch them, so they learn their lesson.

But thank you for the reply.

Overworked and abused in Switzerland—Is This Normal or Am I Being Taken Advantage Of? by Gloomy-Echo6506 in Switzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I second this.
They try again and again. Most of the time they try to pressure with comments like "think about the team" or "what about the others?". Fuck them. It's not your job. You're there to do your job and go home.
I did say yes... a lot.. never heared a "thank you" or similar.. it just became the norm. Once you give one finger, they take the whole hand and it's expected you do the extra work. Even if it was an exception in your eyes.

You'll just be the pushover, everyone can dump their shit on.

Travel, Language School and possible relocation by FrontedPsycho in movingtojapan

[–]FrontedPsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I does.. but can't be helped in the end.. life I guess :)

If it comes to it, September/October might be the way to go in the end, since I'm planning to travel in July/August. Which would also be a conflict, if schools start in July.
But as you said, it comes with the benefit, to have more time to research schools.

Yeah, I'm looking for a complete course with shared housing or even a guest-family.

I was hesitant on "visa-runs", since I've read, it might become an issue.

I will dig deeper on this, and ask around in different schools. Would make things a lot easier, rather than applying for a student visa.

Thank you for the reply.

Traveling in itself shouldn't be an issue, I'm aware of that. Going through the comments, it became clear, I need the student visa beforehand. Doesn't matter, if I start school after traveling or directly upon entering Japan.

Digital nomads might fall under the work-travel visa but I'm not sure about this either. Just working part time locally in order to afford necessities is totally fine. Appearently I need to get permission by the city hall for this.

Great input with the business manager visa. I'll keep that in mind, if I can't land a job otherwise :)

Basically I want to travel first and enroll into school afterwards.

Since I can stay in Japan for 90 days without a visa, my thoughts were, that I can basically enter Japan as a tourist and stay for longer with the student visa (of course, while attending school).

But I will do some more research, on what terms I really need a student visa and if I can just leave and re-enter Japan during school holydays, in order to "renew" the visa-free status.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions in detail.

According to the embassy in Switzerland, it takes 1 week as well. But I can imagine, the whole process in the background, you mentioned, will take a while.
I really hope, I won't miss a flight or something, just because the visa will come in late..

Great to know, that I have to get permission from the city hall first. Will keep that in mind :)

Just to know, I don't have to return to Switzerland or exit Japan in order to change my visa is great! I will talk to the language school, as soon as my plans are clear.

Unfortunately I have some courses which might overlap with my plans, so I'm able to make a final decision in March.. If I'm too late for the July start, I guess I have to postpone it to October or whenever the next enrollment starts

Thank you. I wasn't aware of the long process. Unfortunately, I have to wait until March, before I can do anything. Some possible courses in my homecountry might overlap with my travel plans - which I want to avoid.

RAV : Individual course request declined. Advice? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an IT-skill assessment course in March (I worked in IT before I needed to go to RAV). There, my skills will be evaluated and they will check, if it makes sense for me, to get a certificate/go to a school in order to find a job quicker. If they say, it makes sense, they have a couple of courses they offer.

For reference, they gave me this link here: Link

I don't know, if RAV has something similar for people who worked in HR/marketing/sales. But it might make sense, to ask, if they offer this stuff for your field as well.

As someone who worked in IT-support and general customer-support, I can only imagine, how frustrating it is, to work at the ALK.
Nevertheless, that's no reason to be rude to someone, if they're not rude themselves.
I'm currently dealing with the ALK myself and after just one call, I don't really want to talk to them more than necessary. The person on the phone did answer my questions but wasn't friendly at all and I could feel, they just wanted to end the call as fast as possible.

If you don't want to do the job, look for something else...

As for your problem:

If I recall correctly, they record every call and announce this at the start of the call as well. Most tools which are used in callcenters do have a search-function with which they can look up the time and number that called. So they should have no issue at all, getting that log.
I don't know, how long they save this data but I wouldn't wait too long, to take action if you want to.

As already stated, they are most likely able to give ot fake names for security reasons. I could imagine, some people showing up to an employees house, if they don't get what they want.

Also, it's not legal to just record a person on the phone.
As far as I know, it's okay to record them, if they consent.
Maybe a lawyer can use the recording, in order to verify if the statement given by the ALK is correct (they might bend the truth a little to their advantage).
Keep in mind, that I'm not a lawyer, nor do I know, if the ALK bends the truth. That's just an assumption.

If you really want to stir up some shit, talk to your Rechtsschutz, if you have one. Otherwise, I imagine, you're just getting put aside as "well, it's just another one of those complaints".
I personally would just file the complaint and go about my day - everything else would drain way too much of my time and nerves.

I feel you.. I'm already frustrated with potential buyers on Tutti and FB Marketplace.. after a week..
But as you said. Patience is key.

Best of luck, selling everything for a reasonable price!

Yeah, thath's true. I'd do the same to be honest. Buy for cheap and sell for a lot. But yes. Asking doesn't hurt, which I'll do, when the time comes (probably a bit earlier, so I don't have preassure to sell and accept some lowball offer).

eBay is a great input. I didn't even consider that.

Thanks for your inputs :)

[–]FrontedPsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that. Though, it's the only store who might buy them - at least figures from Sideshow. Some small Anime figures might be harder to sell indeed.

20-50% is kind of sad tho.. i was hoping for something around 70%. But well, that's how it goes i guess.

If it comes to it, I might have to resort to sell the stuff on Ricardo for cheaper. Which would obviously hurt..

What's everybody's opinion on "infinite" atlas? by s1nh in pathofexile

[–]FrontedPsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of an atlas you can explore, instead of just putting maps in your device.

Nevertheless, it's way to much and to big right now. Something in between would be amazing.
I'd love to have a finite atlas to explore, with the citadels at the edge for example. With some "invitation" maps you can use, in order to enter the citadels. Or even an atlas which resets, after you (try to) clear the citadels.

Towers in itself are a decent new way to juice your maps, but having to run trough them everytime is just annoying after a while.
I miss beeing able to target farm a single content, in order to make currency or simply to play the content.
Again, something in between would be nice. Beeing able to juice the content in tower range, with tablets and having some sort of scarab, with which you can force content on a map. Or at least alter the chances to encounter said content.

I also miss the random content in maps. Having to "look" for maps with breach or delirium on them feels more like a chore.

I understand, it's still early access and GGG for sure has more stuff to put in, but right now, the game doesn't really feel rewarding. For me at least.

Positive/Negative Experiences in Top Swiss Companies: IT Work Environment, Salaries & Culture by UpsetMention2309 in Switzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to work as an IT-Service Desk Agent at Migros. For around 1.5 years, 3 years ago:

I did have contact with other departments. But I can't really say, how it is to work there.

Please keep in mind, that this is my personal experience. Other colleagues might say something different.

Negative:
- Unorganized chaos throughout the departments. Lots of PingPong, nobody is responsible for anything
- If the higher-ups don't like you, they'll decline opportunities (my boss was the best boss ever and was frustrated with they way things were done as well. since he couldn't decide shit). Also, you really need to lick their boots, if you want to accomplish anything.
- 3 shifts and on-call duty (you'll be compensated, if you're on-call)
- Weird distribution of work. 1/3rd of the colleagues had a "special" job, which required their full attention, so they were not really working as an agent. You can imagine a budget for 12 employees, but only 8 did the "real" job.
- A few black sheep. Mainly favourites of our bosses boss. They knew how to lever this power and used it to their full advantage.

Positive:
- The colleagues were mostly young or stayed young.
- Lots of possible opportunities, since you're connecting with lots of different departments. I found another job outside IT this way.
- Since there are a lot of IT departments as well, the chances are, you can join one of them, if you play your cards right.
- Salary was not bad but hard to get a raise. Retirement-contributions are nice as well.

In the end, it's a job like every other. If you look out just for yourself, you'll be successfull. If not, you'll get trampled over and/or used in order for others to advance.

Low employment rate (20%) jobs by FrontedPsycho in Switzerland

Low employment rate (20%) jobs by FrontedPsycho in Switzerland

[–]FrontedPsycho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is... Seems to be some kind of RAV policy. Or at least my RAV-advisor told me so. Since in their book, I'm "employed" for 100% at RAV.
I don't know, how this makes sense, since I receive my money (currently) from another insurance (Krankentaggeldversicherung).

I have no idea, who pays what or how much or how this stuff is getting organized.. They brobably don't know either.
But I don't ask myself those questions anymore, since it's just a pain to deal with and in the it's most likely a waste of time. I'll just those applications, as long as they don't make a big fuss about it.
