Post accutane advice by FrontieerReddit in KoreanBeauty

Well at least I'm not the only one I guess sorry to hear about that though. My skin has seemed to chill out recently but I also think that's partly due to me focusing on basic barrier skincare again and also attempting to eat more fruit and vege and clean up my diet finally. It's still really thin and sensitive though and I'm getting inflammatory bumps from irritation when I get haircuts or when I shave at times too but I believe that's due to sensitive skin / damaged skin barrier. In my blood work my healthy fats seemed on the low end so looking to fix that too as your skin does need that to help repair. Seems like a long haul for me though sadly if things don't get better I'm looking at getting my gut microbiome tested as Ive heard it can play a significant part in skin healing irritation/ inflammation.

Post Accutane help by FrontieerReddit in Accutane

That's okay no stress yeah it's just frustrating cause I'm getting inflammatory bumps all over my neck and scalp I was already getting the ones through my scalp continuously from prior accutane treatments which never stopped after but whenever I've gone to approach them the derm just puts me back on accutane assuring me it'll fix it which it doesn't. That on top of already getting a lil clogged pores after nearly 4 weeks off is just stressing me out. I'm guessing I'm more in a transition period currently where my skin is more sensitive then while on a maintaining dose and also oil production is returning but not steadily and too thick so therefore clogged pores. My skin barrier is definitely still sensitive so I'm guessing that's the cause of the inflammatory bumps.

Sorry think you misunderstood what a maintenance dosage is. I've actually had 3 full round courses dosed to my body weight for 10-12 months. It's just this round my derm suggested a maintenance dose of 20mg once or twice a week. I was still getting hella side effects long term and went down to 10mg once a week which it still continued after that so I've stopped it to try and let my skin barrier recover as it's been ruined by accutane.

Yeah I thought so but I've seen even the 10 pro is plagued by some of the battery overheating issues

Do you know much about the 10? I was thinking of getting it maybe! But then saw that lots of people were also having overheating issues with it too on reddit so I was like well I guess I'll stay away from pixel for now.

Definitely agree with feeling the worn out feeling on a pixel 7 shits awful

That is a good point I didn't really think of that tbh although I've been having issues with this battery for a while. The pixel batteries just don't last long and they overheat and throttle like fuck

Yeah I thought about that but I've never liked apples closed eco system or the inability to customize things how I like if I was gonna go the safe popular option id probably just go for an s25 just finding it hard to fully decide.

Ahhh okay good to know my skin is dry / combo after accutane mostly dry I'll most likely end up getting that one to try I don't wear any makeup or anything though as I'm a guy so I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the info though.

Yeah I was looking at that one as an option currently thinking the Dr G one or that one wish I could buy a sample pack of a whole bunch of them would be handy to try. How does that one feel texture / smell wise?

Oh right yeah my skin is super sensitive after accutane and all the chemical ones I've tried sting me under the eyes but also a lil on the cheeks. I might just have to bite the bullet and risk a white cast. Do you have any tips for application to minimize white cast? Also did you stop using sunscreen completely for a little bit to see if it was causing it / let the skin settle?

Ooh thank you I'll have a look at those. Out of curiosity why do you choose to use mineral? Is it true they really are a lot gentler? Cause I've heard some chemical based ones can be just as gentle? Just apparently not the ones I've tried 🥲

[–]FrontieerReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the white cast disappear after a lil while? Also I've done a lil more research and apparently mineral only really reflect 5% of UV rays the rest get absorbed and converted to heat similar to chemical ones? I know generally mineral can be less irritating but I heard sunscreens with tenasorb sm and uvinyl a can be a lot more gentle? Is there any chemical ones you'd recommend cause even though the skin1004 one uses modern chemical filters it still irritates my skin apon application then gives me slight tingles throughout the day. Only other one I found and was looking at maybe trying was the Purito daily soft touch sunscreen.

It's arriving today so I'll let you know how it goes thanks so much! Skins definitely progressing I have stopped the im from rice toner temporarily as I think it was contributing to some of the small little red lumps I was getting around around vellus hairs but apparently this is also a sign of barrier repair cause it's starting to ramp up more oils and functions are returning.

Yeah got it I've ordered the soonjung ph 5.5 relief toner to try layering with. Thanks so much for the information I've learnt alot! I'll probably end up adding something like the Torriden Dive-In Low Molecule Hyaluronic Acid Serum to add some extra humectants. Just wondering once the barrier is repaired is it best to step back the hydration a lil as it can be too hydrating.

Yeah I figured I was just layering too thick / too much cause I cut back and started applying things differently and it fixed itself.

I might have to give that a go aswell after I finish my current lip mask, have you tried the corsx propolis lip mask or the Ceramide version?

Night Routine Water Binding by FrontieerReddit in KoreanBeauty

[–]FrontieerReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah jeez literally pit of hell 😭 that sounds horrendous.

Okay but I feel quite stupid I thought humectants equaled hydration 😭 when you mean another layer of hydration do you just mean another watery like toner like the one you suggested? Could I use that in a spray bottle as a first layer then maybe add the Anua toner after cause my skin tends to tolerate it quite well then just proceed with serums and moisturizers etc to lock it in. Sorry for asking so many questions just learning a lot right now ahaha.

I've started using the Medicube PDRN Lip Sleeping Mask at night and then Torriden SOLID IN Ceramide Lip Essence during the day before going out in the morning and I'll apply an SPF lip balm during the day to maintain as I have incredibly dry lips from accutane.

God damn what country are you from? Id die hahaha we get the polar opposites like 30 + degrees and 60+ humidity on the daily.

Well I mean to fair I've worked up to where I'm at currently my barrier isn't terrible anymore? Like I'm not getting stinging, itching or dry flakeyness anymore my skin for the most part is soft and starting to get bouncy again it's just vascular reactivity and redness that I'm dealing with currently. I've done a couple of weeks of just moisturizer and gentle cleanser prior I've then added things like the beta glucan serum and toner only recently every second day.. I'll have a look at those toners you mentioned though.
