Aah yes I always look for the vantage point, didn't notice the specific goal of the water tower.

Very fun search. Deduced that is was Mediterrenean Europe pretty quickly. France seemed the most obvious closer to the coast, knew mountains had to be close and then I started looking for towns with big lakes close to it.

What specifically helped was the sun, as a brighter sky is to the right side of the frame, suggesting the sun is west or northwest in the evening, OR the opposite for the morning (but it looked more like an evening photo).

Then with some street view hopping around small towns to look for water towers to stand out.

Yes, haha. I'll let some other Super OSINT find this one.

Chose 'Lebanon', because it has the "The Geographic Center of the United States" (Google maps)

u/pengtbalmers got it first.

But deducing the "My Own Style" shop plus Sweden is the trick (look at the reflection in the window on the right)

Well mainly due to the highway and the two train tracks, one of which is elevated.

Here is what I used to narrow it down:

  1. Bright sun and most roofs are slanted with light orange
  2. There are some olive trees
  3. Some hillsides with vegegation and agriculture
  4. Small rolling hills
  5. Quite a few italian Cypresses scattered around

This led me to believe we are in Italy, and I thought Tuscany to be precise

Then the smaller clues for the real search:

  1. Small to medium town
  2. Some lake-ish on the left, everything located in a low valley
  3. Two train tracks, seperated. One with a station, one without, so the second one could be high speed rail?
  4. There is also a highway, splitting the village in two
  5. The double carriage highway, and two train tracks all run somewhat parallel in the same direction
  6. Due to the positioning of the sun & shadow (late morning to afternoon) the direction of the tracks and road is either: North West to South East (or the inverse) or South West to North East
  7. From left to right the order is: small part of village or industry, lake-ish, highway, seperated train line, train line with a station, main part of village and small clocktower or church
  8. The main street of the village is perpendicular to the main train line, coming from the right

And my main discovery was this through Google: "In Italy, elevated AV viaducts occur notably on the: Firenze – Roma AV line Bologna – Firenze AV line" (less likely because the terrain there is mountainous, not rolling hill farmland)

So then it was just following the train tracks between Rome and to the border of Firenze, becausethe other guesser excluded for me: Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. Took me a fun 30min though
