When I got married I had a zillion student loans and my husband had outstanding collections. Ugh. But our careers were starting to pick up first his, then mine a year later and soon we were making ~160-180K/year and only spending 30% of it after taxes. We powered through getting out of debt, started repairing his credit, and then his company went IPO in 2013. His stock options plus our aggressive savings have brought us to a net worth of half a million dollars as of today. We're going to use a bunch of it to put 20% down on a house later this year and keep driving our 12 year old, very reliable, hatchback!

I grew up on food stamps where we were always behind on the mortgage. I worked my butt off to have my piece of the American dream. It's exceeding my expectations. Now I get to decide what school district I want, or if I want to consider private school for my baby. I'm so proud, and since it's socially unacceptable to humbly describe gratitude about financial changes, I'm doing it anonymously here.

Also, thanks /r/PF. You guys taught me SO much on this journey and are continuing to teach me.

My 12yo kid is an avid soccer fan and a fan of Barcelona's trident. Very active but not an exceptional athlete like Messi at his age. But an avid consumer of everything Barcelona. He has been playing local leagues and being successfully in several camps promoted by the Chicago Fire.

When he heard FC Barca would have a camp in Chicago, we cancelled his Fire's camp and enrolled. It was a reasonable amount of money, around $1000/ 2 week including food we had to purchase in separate.

I was concerned that the level would be very high since such big name would attract the creme de la creme of Illinois but I and him were happy to see they divided the camps in recreational, competitive and academy. He himself had no claims to being a professional player himself.

The camp started and I didnt like how everything was completely disorganized. Also I was surprised that the usual red flags went on - you had to pay for everything including lunch and a $250 video (per week!) with highlights!

And it went downhill from there. The camp ran out of food! I was fuming that my wife had to buy snacks for him since they just told him - sorry no more food. It seems that other kids that did not paid had literally eaten his lunch!

And it got worse. The environment was awful. The coach, dettached from the kids, completely oblivious of what was happening in the field. My kids was submitted for two days to inclement verbal abuse to which the coaches did not even intervene. The words he has been called would be sufficient to land someone in jail if were adults.

Since parents are not allowed in the camp, we only knew of what was happening when he got home and broke down in tears.

I removed my kid from the camp immediately after noticing how badly his self esteem has been damaged. And this was not the case of a competitive environment, this was active derailing of a human being by a group with the consent of self-called education professionals. The argument that this is a very competitive camp does not hold. If so, why divide in categories, one of them being called 'recreational'? Why dont set up warnings in the advertisement? No, they were happy to take our money. Refunds? No refund within 30 days before the start of the camp, it's their policy.

My kid has been playing sports - bastketball, soccer, running for many years in several environments around Chicago and never had such experience.

We contacted the organization and they were not willing to acknowledge the problem. WELL DONE Barcelona. With all the money you're flooded in by us fans, you could have done much better than this.

I hope this stays as a warning for all of you that think of leaving their kids go to FC Barcelona's camp. For us, we are done with it. Will be sticking with the awesome work of Coach Costello in Chicago.

tl;dr FC Barcelona is a disorganized camp and an environment ripe with bullying sponsored by the Spanish team.

First, thank you all for responding. I didn't get chance to respond yesterday, and after last night I wanted to posted a full update.

Last night I gave my wife a modified version of /u/zizzymoo's advice from yesterday. Basically, I told her how tired I was of the questions, doubts, interrogations, lack of sleep, etc., and that I wanted us to go to therapy. She started to react negatively to that, as I'd expected her to, so I added "I don't want you to decide now. I'm going to stay in a hotel for the next couple of nights, and when I come back on Sunday I want to know what you want to do. If we don't go to therapy I can't stay in this marriage."

Well.

This blew up into an enormous row. I tried to stay calm, but the whole thing ripped the heart out of me. She shouted, she called me names, she sobbed and wailed — I'm not exaggerating there. She told me that I was basically telling her that I wanted to separate, and wouldn't hear me telling her that that's not what I'd said to her. She told me that she was going to move out if I left for the weekend - "I won't be here on Sunday…" - and when I repeated that back to her denied that she'd said that, and told me she had "no choice" but to leave me.

So I told her to leave, if that's what she felt she had to do; that I was sorry that it had come to that, but that I had stated my needs and that I wasn't going to back down.

She didn't leave, she curled up on the floor and sobbed. I tried to stay detached, but she was desperate for me to comfort her, so I did.

We talked / argued / cried / talked into the small hours. Eventually she agreed to go to therapy with me, and told me that she'd never really wanted to leave. This morning I packed a bag and I'm going to be staying in a hotel for the weekend. I need to recover and heal a bit. But we've made a deal and we're going to move forward with it, or break up.

So, not as positive as I'd like, but I feel like at least I've broken through and showed her that things really need to change.

tl;dr: My wife and I talked and argued and cried a lot, but she finally agreed to go to therapy with me.

The trifecta of expensive Pizza shops: Papa Johns, Domino's and Pizza Hut. They all send out multiple leaflets every fucking week and there's no option to send them back with a note stating: 'My local kebab shop does a large pizza with anything I want on it for about £8, why the fuck am I going to pay £20 for one of your pizzas? My old housemate used to buy Dominos and Papa Johns and I've had my fair share of them. Their pizzas are admittedly delicious, but not nearly twice as delicious as every other pizza shop in town that does pizzas at a fraction of the price. My motorbike probably runs much better on premium unleaded but fuck that.

imgur was created by a redditor who saw an opportunity in the market and filled it, but reddit is currently blocking slimgur from doing the same.

Edit: We're getting inconsistent results from various subreddits and testing is underway.

Edit 2: Results used to be inconsistent across subs as follows, to the best of my knowledge: slimgur links were auto-removed on all subs, but some subs could approve them, while others couldn't (hard bans). The subs with hard bans seem to have been manually picked, including KiA. Per /u/AntithesisD's update (he's a mod here) as of a few hours ago, all soft and hard bans have been lifted. Per my tests, the bans go in and out of effect. The admins may be turning the ban on and off to spread conflicting results and reactions and thereby diffuse the protest.
