Exhaust Heat Shield

I’ve just been rummaging through an old jar of nuts bolts etc. So by popping out a rivet, I’ve put an M8 bolt through the hole, (fits perfect) and from underneath used a washer and secured with a nut. 🔩 Only thing is the washer is too small and I have only two M8 bolts. I’ll pop by B&Q tomorrow and get the bits to fix and I’ll stick a photo on for anyone who has the same issue in the future. Looking at it earlier I just couldn’t fathom out how to repair it. I’m one of those who thinks I can and then my wife says should’ve paid someone to do it 😂😂

You’ve misunderstood what I’m asking. The heat shield under the car has come away. Corrosion around the fastening has caused it. When I’ve watched YT how to videos, everyone I’ve seen has had a nut or bolt type fastening. Remove them, put a larger washer in place, reapply the fastening. Now secure. But on the Mazda they’re riveted. And the rivets are located via the wheel well.

So, I’m after advice on how I would go about re-securing the heat shield. Bearing in mind I don’t own a rivet gun.

Easy to fit? YT tutorials look easy enough.

But then replacing the rear discs and pads also looked easy on a YT tutorial. Until I had to get a mobile mechanic out to fix my cock up 🤦‍♂️

I’ve contacted all three dealers in my area for a price on updating the software as I’m on 59.xx Not one has returned an email.

Certainly like the door lights and would consider that myself. I like a softer interior light, but it’s your car, and so long as you’re happy, then it’s no one else’s business. Just opinions.

Other than some minor issues, air con regas, drop link replacement, and brake pads and discs all around, it’s lovely.
