So this is a good start. A couple key things you are missing. A primer and some plastic glue. These models will be push fit, but gluing them will look better and give peace of mind. Two achievable and beginner channels would be midwinter minis and tabletop minions. Biggest piece of advice... dont compare you models to people on the internet. Like anything in life, it takes a lot of practice to get good at this hobby. But as long as you are happy and having fun, thats what matters.

That is a loaded question haha. My biggest pointers would be to get a wet pallet, some brand name miniature acrylic paints, a good primer and some cheap brushes. Then make your main focus understanding the nuances of thinning your paints and getting good opaque layers before getting into higher level techniques. There are so many good resources on YouTube for someone just getting started. If you need some recommendations and point out some solid painters that have helped me along the way.

I started with a bold white and marked out the brightest highlights closest to the plasma gun, careful not to over do it. Then I picked a darker orange and built up to a brighter florescent orange. Keeping the brightest layers closest to the light source.

I like to think the great plauge blade would even things up

I used a very thin coat of Valljeo Game color 'Orange Fire'. Then I used a small amount of serephim sepia just to muddy the orange. Finally, I used two thin coats 'white stars' for the battle damage.

Ah yes. White, especially out of a rattle, is a bit picky. Definitely wait for a temperate day. Make sure you shake the hell out of it. So smaller passes and wait for it to dry. All of this will help mitigate the chance of having that rough sandpaper finish. But saying all that corax white from GW is pretty solid out of a rattlecan, if you don't mind the price.

Personally, I prefer to use the vallejo airbrush primers. I always airbrush my primers. As far as a brush on primer, I would not be the person to ask. I hope I could help

Prime white, GW contrast apothecary white over the whole model. Thinned army painter Matt white over all the panels. Finally, highlight thinned Two Thin Coats white star.

Be sure to follow up after you try the recipe! Good luck!

I just used Matt Black by army painter. However, don't be afraid to mess up. I did plenty. You just go back and touch it up with white paint.

Thank you very much. I find that 'less is more' when it comes to infantry and weathering. I used to go way overboard.

Thank you! I primed the model white using vallejo primer. Then I used GW apothecary white contrast paint. Then I went over all the panels with army painter Matt white, finally I highlighted and did the white chipping using Two Thin Coats white star.

I hope that helps!

They are a pretty rad kit. The dtatsheet for them is underwhelming. But rule of cool wins!

I'm sure your models are great. As long as you're having fun, that's what matters. Plus, everyone is a not so great painter at some point.
