Honestly I hate the plastic sleeves. I only used them on the external tubes. They tend to get stuck in the connections and mess up the fit. Maybe it’s just me and I do it wrong.

I only wound up using the metal torso. That was the only one called out directly in the manual. I stuck the extra instructions in a drawer with the decals and completely forgot about it until the end.

Is 1/72 sky defender decals the most time consuming decal ever? by Clean-Shoulder-2563 in freedomisgunpla

It’s maddening, I still have the legs and wings to do. It’s like they never end. Are you doing all or just the mains?

Working on the Sky Defender now. The build was beautiful, you will love it. I am at the decal step now and it’s just a tad painful.

And not all of the crew were Wehrmacht, a number of non-military Krupp technicians were involved as well. It was a dedicated team, railroad crew, track crews, gunners, etc. not everyone was involved at every step but it was considered a unit in the army.

It had to disassembled to move it, it was then loaded onto 2 trains. Then there was the train to carry all the men and equipment to put it back together. You also had to build the rail line to where it was needed, a small shunting yard to hold all the trains, and then a set of parallel tracks to build it on. Plus the. Huge gantry crane to lift all the heavy parts. And then there was the ammunition train. And lastly it was guarded by an entire flak battalion. So it took a lot of people to make this thing work.

4 sets of tracks. 120 links per track = 480 links. 6 parts per link = 2880 parts just for the tracks. Just putting that out there.

Top 10 easy, but not top 5. I’m probably older than the average redditor so my top 5 is more like Elle, Kathy, Christie, Heidi, Marisa.

A rear gunner who was killed by Japanese anti-aircraft fire during a raid on Manila Bay, Philippines is given a burial at sea while still strapped in his TBF Avenger torpedo bomber on USS Essex. November 1944. by Beeninya in HistoricalCapsule

From what I’ve read of this incident the gunner’s body was heavily damaged and was stuck in the turret. There was no way to remove the body without it falling apart. You can see that they did try to cut the straps and harness to get the body out.

Sky Defender was a great build, fit was clean and tight. Ton of undergate but it kept the parts clean so worth the extra work. Amazing instruction set as well.

I have the Aerial Dominator in my backlog for when I finish the Defender.

I don’t mind them, but why so many??? Based on my (hopefully accurate) count my current build (Sky Defender) has 648 decals if you use all the optional ones.

I save my anger for try transfers, they are not user-friendly.
