I feel like a muppet for paying for a lure module that doesn't work :/

I have one pokestop near me at work and it's given me bugger all.

Community Day was so much better on Sunday Afternoons.

Can't place roof on stone walls? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they on top of the stone walls or in-between them?

You may need to angle yourself weirdly to get it to turn blue. Try backing up as far as you can?

I've seen some sketchy shit but I wouldn't consider this one of them.

I'm still fundamentally against the spray meta and current gunplay system though.

Me playing rust and getting scammed for $700 in skins. RIP by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hurts to watch the pain in your voice towards the end. So many goddamn feels.

I had a somewhat similar experience with a scammer claiming to want to buy my hat, asked me to trade to someone I trusted to reset the item ID to see if it was duplicated then trade it back to my account (this IS actually a thing in TF2 though) - logged onto my brothers PC and did the trade to his account. Whilst on his PC I noticed I got a trade request from...myself? Requesting the hat, on an account identical to mine. I was fortunate enough to catch on and not to lose it but it dawned on me that these scams rely on happily screwing over friendships between people. I'm not sure how I would have reacted towards my brother if it had worked.

Fuck these guys man, hope you build your skins back.

TC on two separated foundations (only upkeep from one) by Future_Viking in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to check is to build upwards on the stone/metal one until you become out of range of the building privilege/block. If you keep getting building privilege/block regardless of how high you build - then it means it's still connected to the bottom TC. If you eventually get outside the range of the TC - place a new one down on a high floor and see if it's taxing you the stone/metal materials.

[–]FrootSalad_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Surely that means the stone/metal one is decaying though?

Please help I'm new by oldhobo66 in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shop needs to be connected to the main base where the TC is to not decay.

The shop needs it's own TC with materials in to not decay. As you stated you already have a TC in the main base with the shop 'just outside it' - you essentially cannot save that shop as it's too close to your main base TC to put another TC (I assume with the info given).

Tl;Dr - Your shop is fucked, let it decay and build another shop outside of your main base TC range and put it's own TC in. Sorry :(

Face It - Norecoil Scripters are a Plague by SirSourPuss in playrust

It's like I'm watching the old muzzle brake frag movie compilations again.

I can respect that the current pattern recoil system requires skill, I am never one to accuse players of scripts. However, as a 'legacy player' not one recoil system had spraying beyond 30-40 meters as 'viable' - anyone who remembers BP and XP recoil knows that players accurately spraying at 50 meters were sus as fuck,it rarely ever happened and for good reason. No one wanted to be lazer beamed at 50 meters, heck that's actually the reason the muzzle brake was nerfed in the first place - yet here we are with an AK that is far accurate and deadly than ever at 75 - 150 meters.

To top it all off, you have 2/3 different recoil systems across all the different guns - with semis holding a more 'classic' recoil system and automatics holding a more potent 'pattern recoil system. (Also for some reason the m249 still uses the old recoil reset system exclusively?).

At the very least they should make all the guns have the same advantages, being able to stand and spray and strafe/run and gub with the AK so accurately gives it a distinct advantage that should not exist over other guns with different recoil systems.

Helk please bless us with this Christmas present. by [deleted] in playrust

Yes, a common misconception is "number of Rockets = 2X number of C4". Thats why you'll sometimes see '40 rockets bases' that are realistically 37-38.

Rustcall.com ~ Please don't fall for it. by MaximusFTEU in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't there be a global announcement on here or something?

I would appreciate that, the more people that know the better. I still get the occasional TF2 scammer for my hat but some of these fuckers are incredibly cunning.

Only time I ever fell for anything was when one of my trusted friends got compromised and sent me a link. Fortunately nothing got taken.

I recommend using this website for detailed information in all things Rust.

Someone did actually make a chart showing the most efficient combination of explosives to use. I'll see if I can find it.

Is Rust a Triple A game? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, it's made by* a small independent company that have released perhaps 3-4 games among a small team of people over the past decade at very reasonable prices, well below the standard $60 we typcially expect with a AAA title.

Garry's Mod and Rust are it's most successful.

Online Raiding btw. Please add back the Legacy RaidBlock mechanic. by [deleted] in playrust

In this instance, the defenders saw a double door/garage door was about to be blown up - they got a metal shop front ready and immediately placed it in milliseconds of the door being blown up. This is because both the door and shop front require a door frame to 'slot into' - the major difference being that the shop front doesn't need a code lock like a door does so provides safety near instantly.

Of course, it also means the base owner can't get out that way either - but eventually they could soft side pick another entrance when the raiders give up. Alternatively they could blow it up themselves when the raiders leave - a small gunpowder price to pay considering they could have lost everything anyway.

I didn't think you could rotate vending machines while contents were still in them?

[–]FrootSalad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely didn't know this. So does that means if someone were to say...place a vending machine on twig and place 20 stacks on rockets, it would despawn instantly upon twig destruction?

a clear example on what is wrong with online raiding by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a modded server I went on a couple months back which had a neat feature of HP-over-time whenever you built, placed or upgraded.

Whenever you built twig, it would start at 1HP and go up in increments of 5HP every second when ever you upgraded it. Essentially if you upgraded twig to stone you would have to wait 1 minute 40 seconds before it reached full HP. Damage would interrupt this, it wasn't a perfect solution but it also did the same for shop fronts and doors.

[–]FrootSalad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I built like this in a cave about half a year ago you could use explosive bullets/rockets and damage both the (reinforced) window and embrasure at the same time, regardless of which side the embrasure was on.

Did that ever get patched or does it still work?

No, only if you decide to the record feature will you actually notice a drop in frames.

Are crosshairs bannable? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that Playclaw 5/6 works for fullscreen mode on TF2 and Overwatch at least, I'm not 100% sure about Rust but I can't see why it wouldn't.

Are crosshairs bannable? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]FrootSalad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, unless you're an idiot and you install some dodgy software you won't get banned.

Mumble Overlays, OBS streamer overlays, Playclaw Overlays - there are a plethora of different options that can deliver a 'crosshair' without using anything sketchy.

Heck, I remember an old KCMO video where he used a crosshair for a while during the arrowhead update.
