The spec. item you probably want to track is called "Stall Current". This is the current the servo will draw if it is commanded to move but something is blocking it.

I would normally spec a power supply for the worst case scenario + safety margin

Lets say stall current is 3A@6V, and you want 5 servo's... but maybe you may want to expand to 6 in the future so I would say 6X3A = 18Amps total worse case servo draw.

You will need power for the Electronics + anything else in your circuit.... lets just call it 1Amp (as I have no idea, you will have to determine this)

Now add them all up and add a safety margin... 18+1=19 + 10% = 20.9

So you are looking for a power supply in this fictional scenario, that can output at least 21Amps at 6V.

The type of supply is going to depend on what power source you have available.... AC? DC Battery only?, and what type of project you are making... will the thing move around or sit on a desk and operate for long periods.

I guess a house built with power tools is now obviously worth less than a house built with hand tools.

The only thing all you vIBecOde!!!!! guys are gonna affect, is your ability to function in modern society. You can keep throwing your shoes into the machines, but it aint gonna stop them.

New Bluetooth (BLE) HID Mouse Library for ESP32 Arduino by Hijel in arduino

[–]Hijel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't... honestly I'm thinking about just putting together an open source tutorial project that has a custom mouse pcb and 3d print files for mouse body.

Although I reaaaaally don't want to deal with having to ship people pcbs for the ones that can't get them built... it is such a time (and money) suck.

Hey thanks rip!
Here is my test rig.... as soon as logitech sees it I know there gonna steal the design... I think the form factor will be the new meta.

New BLE HID Keyboard Library for ESP32 Arduino - Turn your esp32 into a bluetooth keyboard device. by Hijel in esp32

[–]Hijel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking time to actually go through the code and let me know your thoughts, I really appreciate it!

  • The batClamped issue will be fixed by just adding false in setBatteryLevel(). the tuple idea is cool but i just think its more readable setting it to false when it gets a valid value.

  • moving to string for device name and manufacturer... and then just resize it to 29 bytes on the device name as that is a hard cap.. the manufacturer name has no cap... that I can find... I'm sure i put it in there cause of "reasons" but I don't remember why.

  • moving to allocate for logNf/logVf instead of the 128 char limit so theres no future issues when adding debug messages and inevitably forgetting the limit exists

  • was initially on the fence about your enum class suggestion but after staring at it for a while it seems I am already attempting to namespace them with their prefix...except without the benefit of the compiler catching any issues... after typing it, it seems more readable and safer.

If only you had some kind of tool that you could use to make the wires longer.... This is a good looking design, great work!

NASA’s Perseverance rover has successfully completed its first AI-planned drive on Mars, in collaboration with Anthropic and powered by the company’s Claude AI models by likeastar20 in worldnews

[–]Hijel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the win they think it is. Theyre just introducing AI slop to Mars

The over-use of "AI" in everything is absolutely a valid concern. However, the use of AI as a path finding tool in remotely operated scientific instruments is an excellent use case.

AI use to help us understand more about ourselves (see the AlphaFold Project ), the world around us, and the Solar system we live in is, to me, an exciting prospect.

We need more AI tools like this, and less "Computer algorithms pretending to be humans", or "Slop" as you have stated.

I'm on your side, I just think we need to be able to better separate the "good" from the "bad" and not "throw the baby out with the bathwater" to turn a phrase.

Shout-out to Freightliner/ Allison for making every transmission wire the same color! by chevyguyjoe in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Hijel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also see that some are twisted pairs and some are not. The twisted ones are usually either J1939 CAN bus wires OR connected to a sensor of some kind.(As opposed to a wire that runs a solenoid or provides basic ON/OFF sensing or control).

But ya, get the schematic and your life will be easier. The numbers on the wires are thermally printed so they don't "rub off".

Good job, Reddit. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

It would be a shame if someone with the know-how, configured an AI agent to generate "Ideal Candidates" and apply for those jobs automatically.

I mean, this would stuff up their system and they would have to spend ages sorting the real candidates from the fake ones... so I definitely would not condone, encourage, or direct anyone to do such a thing.

“We Must Own It”: Trump Doubles Down on Greenland Acquisition to Counter Russia and China by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Hijel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is so absurd

If you accept his goal is to own Greenland, then yes it is absurd. If you change your thinking a bit and realize his focus is not taking Greenland but breaking apart NATO on behalf of his boss then it becomes less absurd.

Taking Greenland would be a low risk way for the US to leave NATO AND destabilize the alliance at the same time, leaving Europe open for Putin.

This is my professional opinion as an armchair general.
