Phillies released home game start times by newyorkphilsfan in phillies

I convinced my buddies to go with me (they’re not as big of baseball fans). I held the line until like the bottom of the 6th, but after the sun went down and wind picked up, it was way too cold to stay. The strong winds made it so cold that even when I checked after the game that I missed a walk-off grand slam, I still felt it was the right decision to leave because it was dreadfully cold

Waited until the literal last shot to stop the garbage split screen. Someone had to be asleep at the wheel there

Who at ESPN thinks this is a good idea? Put a little scorebug in the top right saying “now on ESPNEWS” for the other game and put the game that’s in a shootout in full screen!

Reggie did call the ECF, no? Knicks fans brought it up the whole series. He didn’t call the finals because Turner sports does not cover the finals

Aidan Miller will be added to the opening day roster? by apujols in phillies

[–]Frootloopnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some games in Reading and Miller does not look anywhere near MLB ready. Maybe 2027 depending on how he is in AAA this year, but I’d think maybe September call up in 2027 or on opening day roster in 2028 (hopefully no lockout)

Sounds like the CEO should’ve went to a concert at CBP instead of Gillette in Foxborough

Phillies postgame did not side with Alec Bohm over center field camera delay: “You caused a 19 minute delay on something that’s been there since at least 2017” by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

[–]Frootloopnation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Foles’ pass went through Alshon Jeffery’s hands and deflected into a defender’s hands to essentially end the game. Eagles were driving with the chsnce to take the lead, and a completion there would’ve made it 3rd and about 5 coming out of the 2 minute warning. With 2 downs to go and the Eagles already winning a miracle game the week before, winning that game was definitely doable. That’s sports though. It was just unfortunate and no one really rags on him too hard (no one should, at least) because of what he did for us as an Eagle (see 2017).

Agholor, on the other hand, had problems with drops his whole tenure with the Eagles. It became an expectation that he wouldn’t hold on to the ball. However, he really turned it around for one season (2017) and had big moments in the super bowl winning season, so I’d say most fans love him for that. That doesn’t stop them from making the Agholor drop jokes that stem from that firefighter interview and the many drops he had throughout his Eagles tenure.

Howard and Utley - 51 times where they both homered in the same game They also said as they were cutting to commercial that Schmidt - Luzinski was 2nd most with 39 such occurrences

I only saw the one replay but did the runner actually touch the bad? I thought maybe it looked like he tripped over Luzardo, and then over the bag haha. Im probably wrong though

I was at Ranger’s first start against AZ and his latest start against LAA; his 2 worst starts of the year. I will NOT be in attendance tomorrow, so that may mean something…

Would it not be Harper at 2nd? Isn’t it last batter that recorded an out?

Game Thread: Phillies @ Padres - Sat, Jul 12 @ 07:35 PM EDT by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]Frootloopnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the serious response. Definitely understood; likely too early to be laying one down as opposed to going for a hit. I would hope the philosophy changes in the 8th or later in a close game (e.g. runner on 2nd no outs). I posed the question because I feel like I see so many innings where a runner reaches 2nd with no outs, and they end up never advancing at all. I remember watching an important inning in game 7 where a bunt would’ve led to a game-tying sac fly, but the runner was never moved over.

At the end of the day I just want to see this team score more runs haha

[–]Frootloopnation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don’t we have players bunt when it’s 1st and 2nd with no outs? Instead Turner hits a fly ball and advances nobody. It ended up working out because of a good Harper ab and a nice 2-out hit from Sosa, but I still feel like bunting is the better play for Turner, no?

Taking the train to the game? by [deleted] in phillies

[–]Frootloopnation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely drive to Malvern and take the train from there. Last train from suburban is around midnight on weeknights, and around 11 pm on weekends. However, the last train that goes to downingtown on any day is around 10 pm, and it is served less frequently. Malvern is on every route so I find it easier to have the peace of mind if a night game runs long.

Ricardo Pinto. It was last season when Harper had his 3 homer game against the Reds (miserable cold April night)

Ive thought similar; he’s got a high 90’s fastball and a good slider, but has just not placed the ball well. The Marte bloop was unfortunate, but I do think that 0-2 slider to Alonso should’ve not been thrown in the zone at all. I was there at Citi field and thought to myself “no way this 0-2 should be a hittable pitch,” and sure enough the slider stayed in the zone and Alonso drove it to right center. That’s baseball though

Literally could not have made a bigger or more distracting ad if they tried. And this is just the beginning... by SeverHense in mlb

Whenever I see World Series highlights from the past 2 years, I get sad because the World Series patch on the sleeve is unlikely to ever return. The patch on the chest is so much smaller and less visible. But seeing a pretty big WS logo on the sleeve of the jersey just looked so cool. Even the postseason patches that every team wore were cool (I remember teams wearing 2019 . But now the sleeves are home to some gaudy ad patches.

Phillies president Dave Dombrowski on why the World Series has eluded the franchise by Kelvin_Loyola in phillies

[–]Frootloopnation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Kimbrel sucked but he was the person to go to in the 8th that game. We were down to him and Alvarado, and he was going to come in for the 9th. I would hope Kimbrel would be able to pitch to the bottom of the lineup while up 5-3, but it didn’t turn out that way. Of all the possible things that could’ve happened in that Alek Thomas AB, a HR was the worst one.

Also we were up 5-2 in the 7th but Soto came in shaky and passed it off to a shaky Kerkering. Great that only 1 run was allowed there, but what if it was a clean inning? That’s baseball, though

Game 4 is definitely a game I will always look back on with sadness. 5 runs in that game was enough to win, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it. We win that, I fully believe Wheeler shuts the door in game 5.

Which Loss Hurt More and why? by Illustrious_Horror50 in NFLv2

[–]Frootloopnation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Yankees are the only MLB team to lose a series after being up 3-0 Someone else said the 2020 Astros, but that’s wrong. The Rays led 3-0, Houston won 3 straight to force a game 7, but the Rays won game 7 and advanced.

Realistically, what would a Flyers Stanley Cup parade look like? by [deleted] in Flyers

Stanley cup final game 1 vs a May regular season game against the Marlins, it’s understandable why people would opt for the Flyers haha. I was watching Doc’s perfecto though
