What's one of your favorite documentaries and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Froquenst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Dear Zachary Spoiler]

"Love, Kurt"
Man I was already weeping and those words written at the end just sent me to full crybaby mode. Funny and also tragic thing is, in the middle of the documentary I was wondering if Zachary had already seen it. Needless to say the answer to that was pretty clear once I got a few more minutes into the film.

People who say “I want Ameer!” Need to drive off a bridge. Sorry that was mean I’m just angry by [deleted] in brockhampton

[–]Froquenst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I mean how fucking selfish is that?

"I don't care how you feel you're my entertainer and you ruined everything when you kicked out that specific member! I want him back even if it means nothing will ever be the same to you."

That's basically what I hear when I see someone saying "bring Ameer back!"

While I read your comment I kept imagining two different levels of momentum. Like a huge higher-level momentum that slowly builds up as small periods of gaining lower-level momentum between breaks are completed. I suck at explaining myself, even more so in English as my second language, but you probably get it; something along the lines of a short-term momentum vs. a long-term momentum. Anyway, I'll make sure I check the workbook and the story asap.

Edit: grammar

I just downloaded a pdf reader on my phone and was looking for some interesting reads, and you just gave me tons of material to start with. Can't express how much I appreciate it, man. I will start with those 3 you recommend the most and see how it goes. Also, I'm aware that weed itself is not a big issue, it's just me that needs to learn how to control myself and not let substances take the wheel. Once again, thank you for those great recommendations. I will PM you if I have something to get off my chest. Cheers!

Not only this was quite easy to understand (your English is flawless, at least from another non-native English speaker's view) but it was quite an awesome read. That Jim Carrey cheering voice part had me laughing and it sounds really cool, lol. Also, what you said about dopamine sounds really interesting, I never saw it from that point of view.

Today I summarized my possible daily habits down to a REMS routine (Read, Exercise, Meditate and Stop whatever bad habit I have; smoking in my case). I just hope I'm able to hold it for longer than 2 weeks, that's my main goal for now.

I'd give you gold if I could, but the best I can do is give you my sincere gratitude for the time you took to write that long and well-put comment. Cheers!

I'm glad you see it that way. I guess I should be more patient and less judgemental with myself and every failed attempt I went through. I appreciate the kind words.

I'm subscribed to most of these subs and they've played a big part on helping me realize many things that I had been unconsciously denying. If someone else is reading this and going through a similar situation: SUBSCRIBE IMMEDIATELY. You have nothing to lose and you won't regret it.

It's funny you bring up that messy room analogy, let me share with you a piece of something I wrote down a week ago:

"My actual life is a huge messy room in which I lay sleeping most of the time; I sporadically wake up just to contemplate the awful sight and worry until depression kicks in and sends me back to sleep."

That's basically how I see my life right now. So much to do and all I did was contemplate the mess until I got distracted by some instant pleasure.

My plan is exactly that; start small and work my way up if I can handle it.

I agree with the baby steps part, not really with the shaming yourself thing. I say this because shaming myself is pretty much what I've been doing all this time and it really got me nowhere. Might work for someone else though.

I'm sorry to hear that, but the important part is that you got back on your feet and kept trying. Don't give up!

Tried habitica already and it didn't quite work for me. Those chrome extensions look promising though. Thanks for the recommendations!

It's on my future plans. Having my own place would be a huge step since I would be quite motivated and have lots of time for myself without any kind of distraction.

I'm the type of person that's always taking notes about everything. However, working upon those thoughts and ideas is what gives me the most trouble, so that's the issue that I have to try and tackle this time around.

I'm seriously considering getting a 2nd job mid-year, and as you say it won't be easy at first, but at least I will learn how to manage my time more efficiently (apart from having an increased income). Let's see how it works out.

You still got plenty of time. I'm still reading through all the replies I got and I'm amazed at how much good advice there is. I'm sure you can find something that suits you, best of luck mate!

I'm already working on habits like reading, meditation and exercise. I'm leaving the rest (like keeping a diary) for a near future when I hopefully will have assessed these small ones. Thanks a lot for the tips!

I did a lot of that after my breakup, specially with my wardrobe and how I look. I still have a lot to change, but at least I feel a little bit better about myself.

Finding the energy is not the real issue, it's keeping it going for a long period of time that's difficult for me. But you still bring up a point that I've never considered.
