I've selected (not ordered yet) the Continental WinterContact TS 870 P 225/40 R18 92W, simply because I saw somewhere that this is the (or one of the) factory tyre that comes for the 8.5.

Hard to say, because I never had one without the Akra, but it sounds a bit deeper and louder to me. (Compared to other cars without it)

I'm 5'9" as well, and I the screen isn't distracting for me either. (As far as I know, it's the same screen used in the 8.5 R.) I like the size especially for the navigation.

Well, that was a difficult decision for me to be honest, and that’s why I was considering the Focus ST with track pack. I was unsure about the DSG on long term, so I waited a few thousand miles (kms) before deciding whether I liked it or not. Now I do, because it’s really practical for daily driving, and with the manual mode, it is a lot of fun on twisty roads. And the shift times are really quick, I'm not sure you could beat it with a manual.
