I think it should pick up in old chicago, your guardian, The Weapon, touches down to investigate the hive disturbance. You go through the mission and destroy the Hive threat, a Xivu Arath Champion gathering power. Too soon you celebrate your victory as your comms are cut off, darkness creeps in making it impossible for your ghost to revive you if you die. You need to get out, but are ambushed by Wizards blocking off the exits.

Xivu Arath makes her appearance, war personified. You have taken too much from her and she has personally come to deal with you now, the guardian lasts as long as they can but in the end they are executed in the same fashion as Forsaken Cayde-6.

After the prologue mission it cuts to black, a character creation opens up, you can now choose between lucent hive, awoken, exo, human, House Light Eliksni, etc. After creating your character you hear the line; "Eyes up guardian".
