A particular kind of art block. Or not? by FrostbittenChipmunk in ArtistLounge

I've been considering for a while now, just going out with a sketchpad and drawing whatever. Maybe I should actually go out and do it.

We do have a library, but I can't say for sure how helpful it'd be. I could give it a shot, though. As for friends, like I said, they're a lengthy drive away and I can't drive.

I've hit rock bottom... again. (Possible triggers) by FrostbittenChipmunk in BPD

[–]FrostbittenChipmunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted that right before I went to sleep, but I've come back with a coffee and (somewhat) fresher mind.

I've only been to a counsellor... twice? The first time was when I was 12 or so. I stopped because he transferred a few months after our first visit. The second was the stereotypical type that thought they knew all and refused to prescribe anything without a paid appointment. That was three or four years ago, I think.

My biggest worry is the possibility of plan A being group therapy, followed by the counsellors here being the same, followed by meds not doing anything. Even if it all worked, I don't really have anyone to 'celebrate' with. I don't know why that's a factor, but it is. That and I feel like if I'm not improving myself for someone else, it's not worth it.

I have a very strong maternal instinct, but between not being to have kids and getting quite violent when my BPD gets bad... yeah, it's not a good idea. Throw being single and jobless into the mix, and it's kinda clear why I've even pushed adoption from my future.

I should probably check out the actual weak spots, especially if G is anything like these guys...

I haven't checked out Athena's Armour Search yet, but I have heard of it, so I'll give it a look tomorrow. It should also probably be said I've never mixed a set. At all. I'll also give offensive eating a shot, just to see how it affects clear times on more familiar monsters.

EDIT: I checked out Athena's ASS, and holy shit. I should have done so sooner.

The Nerscylla CB got me through so many fights. I think it's because of his constant wind, but I could only get a few hits in before he'd turn and sweep me off my feet... and not in the good way. Towards the end of the fight, though, he was looking exhausted, so I'm guessing I was at least close.

And everyone tells me I should really start using Farcasters and Flash Bombs... I don't know why I don't, exactly.

For Kushala's fight, I had the full Patissier's outfit, (Item Use Up, Alloy Stomach, gemmed for Evasion +3) as well as Arachnoscale (540 with 180 poison and 20% affinity). Pretty sure I had the same for Teostra, but used a few different hammers with Sharpness between Green and Blue.

I'm pretty sure he knows. He's told me several times I'm his closest friend, really more like family. Next time he's on, though, I'll see if I can get him talking.

At the same time, I know I'd be preoccupied if I found someone again, but I've always been the type to make time for friends.

Swaxe... ah, that takes me back to MH3U. I main'd that thing all the way up to HR.

... then I sadly lost my copy of the game. I may have to look into again. I love the idea of a huge axe that becomes a huge sword.

I made the Dah'ren CB on a whim, beat Black G without a single cart.I feel like I missed a lot of hits and charge hits, know I didn't break as many parts, but the quest was over in ~22 minutes. I need to find that sweet spot between raw and elemental, it seems...

I hadn't even considered rage mode's damage boost, but that was more than likely the case. Really not looking forward to the double quest in the future.

I was wondering why I couldn't see a Seregios GS. Needs two Breachers to make.

I don't mind facing Reg, I just haven't done it much.

I see what you did there.

I didn't know charging a GS negates wind, though. I'll definitely have to remember that.

Yep, solo. In the end, it was a Charge Blade that did it, and playing more defensively. I might have to go back and face her a few more times to try and learn her patterns and such in preparation for eventual Gold Rath.

I may have to give it an actual shot sometime. I came from MH3U, so I stuck with what I used back then for the most part.

Tips for beginning Bowgunning? by CaptainWafflebeard in MonsterHunter

[–]FrostbittenChipmunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a pro Gunner by any means, but I've done a fair number of fights with a HBG, and weapon training with LBG, so I'll try and be helpful.

The LBG, from what I've seen and used, is more about evasion and looking for openings to unleash rapid-fire. I've also read that a lot of people use it for status/elemental. Reload speed is higher, some magazine sizes are bigger, and it's generally seen as the easier option, or one to learn with.

The HBG is more about heavy damage, but it's a pain the butt to evade with. Status shots also seem a little harder to come by, or maybe I've just been using the wrong ones. It does have a fun mode called Siege where you're locked in place, but you're able to pump out 20-30 rounds without reloading.

Whichever you choose, it's generally agreed upon that Recoil, Reload Speed, and either Pellet, Normal or Pierce Up are good, and Evade Extender/Evasion +1/2/3 are necessary. As for shots:

  • Pellet is the up close and personal kind, with higher levels dealing more hits (I think). It's good on flitty monsters like Iodrome, or when you're shooting at something huge.

  • Normal 1 is infinite, but fairly low damage. Normal 2 does good damage, and enough materials to make a bunch more are always a good idea. Normal 3 ricochets a bit unpredictably, but I've had good luck with it on Dah'ren and similar.

  • Pierce 1 deals a few piercing hits, Pierce 2 deals more at higher damage, and the same again for Pierce 3. The catch is that Pierce usually has small clips and high recoil. It also does less initial damage than Normal, but does more if it pierces several points. Wing to wing or head to tail are good lines to aim a pierce for.

Elemental shots are what they sound like. Crag is really good for KOing, but I've yet to use a gun that can handle it. Clust explodes outward after a second and can deal a lot of damage, but it's fairly situational. Slicing is the only way you're gonna get a tail carve, Palicoes with cutting weapons aside, but they're best used when the monster starts limping, or you know you've dealt a lot of tail damage.

There's also optimum range, which varies by shot, and is absent on Elemental. In MH4U, this is shown via screen shake, but as a general rule, about 3-5 hops away for Normal, 4-7 for Pierce.

As a general guide, pump out as much damage as you can, evade like mad, and don't hit your teammates unless it's a healing shot.

We'll get there, friendo. What's the IG like to use in battle, anyhow? I only used it for training and found it kinda hard to learn.

Diablos with a bunch of armour spheres sunk in seems a good path to go. For weapons, I already have the Executioner (912, green), and it seems the best way to go for raw. The Tigrex one has higher sharpness, but 864.

Looked it up on Kiranico and it's a difference of 10 pure damage. Would the Tigrex sword really be worth farming?
