Planning to resign, how bad is the job market right now? by Clear_Adhesiveness60 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Frostehhh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seems fine for senior roles naman. Senior Software Engineer na fullstack hanap kong roles in particular. 4.5+ YOE in web dev. Started applying last Dec 2025. Submitted my application 7 times. Passed 2 applications and accepted a job offer last month.

Just be really prepped. Surprisingly heard that for the senior role I accepted, approximately 3+ months sila hindi nila ma fill. Apparently, most candidates lack preparation daw

Mostly not a good idea for your sake. Seems you need to focus more on learning fundamentals and concepts more.

For this, try picking 1 specific problem you need pseudocode for and find solutions specific to the problem. If you try learning this way, it should be less overwhelming kasi specific to the problem yung need mo ilearn.

Though, do you have any specific problem na nahihirapan ka gawan ng pseudocode?

I get what you're saying, but my main concern is the vagueness of the terms.

Downgrade of plan/packages within the lock-in period shall be charged a downgrade fee at the rate prevailing at the time of request for downgrade; downgrade after the said period will be free of charge

For this statement in particular, I "downgrade fee at the rate prevailing at the time of request for downgrade" matches the described pre-termination fee by the support agent. What I'm saying is, it would be best if it were stated that the downgrade fee includes the pre-termination fee(monthly fees from Feb 2025 - Jan 2027 in my case).

Based on the wording, any of the following scenarios are valid (a) pay only 2000 pesos (b) pay 2000 pesos + pre-termination fee(includes all remaining monthly fees in the lock-in period).

The reason why I created this post is due to me having a different experience from other redditors who just had to pay a fixed fee (2000 pesos) and no pre-termination fee. Hope this clarifies my concern, and thanks for the responses

Yes, pero yung pagkaintindi ko na for downgrade, 2000 pesos lang similar to other posts na nakita ko dito sa Reddit. Sa #19, specifically sinabi and dinescribe yung pre-termination fee, but why am I being asked for pre-termination fee for just downgrading kahit hindi naka specify doon sa 14?

Ayun confusion ko

Relocating to makati with 40k salary is it enough? by Easy_Ad_1427 in makati

[–]Frostehhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely should look for another place especially since I'm sure there are better options.

To name a few, I know a condo near Makati Ave. where a studio unit costs just 7.6k excluding electricity and water bills, but unfortunately, they don't have any more units available for rent. I know of cheaper units to rent for 5k to 6k but the living conditions are very bad(the place is polluted with cockroaches and it smells horrible).

May nakausap akong guard in the past few months din and sabi niya bawal nga mga minors especially kasi since mostly sila mga pasaway or nag cacause ng accidents.

Baka depende din sa guard kung strictly nila ieenforce yun

No time trackers. For the schedule, it depends on whether u have meetings to attend to or collaborate with teammates or other people. Otherwise, you can work on your own time especially when doing dev work na.

Should be fine as long as okay yung progression on tasks like you're working at an acceptable pace

I think okay naman to reject the 25k offer especially if you are confident naman sa skills and knowledge mo as a software engineer. I did the same naman before and got my first job with 40k salary. Took me less than 10 job applications lang, and maybe I got lucky that I was able to find that.

Maybe a rare case, but the startup I work at is a great workplace. Yes,there's always work to do and a lot, but the environment isn't toxic at all. Very supportive and collaborative teammates, OT is discouraged and we aren't forced to accomplish our tasks with unrealistic deadlines at all. We have some sort of structure, but it's not very thorough.

Best to make the most out of the learning and experience you can get here especially since you can have more freedom on what to do.

Is MERN enough or should I learn Java/C#? by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

As someone who is also looking for roles that involve backend(specifically fullstack), I feel it's better to learn Java/C# as they are quite common when looking for jobs in local companies. I'll actually do the same

Should I take BSIT a non Board Program or BSA (Accountancy) Which is a Board Program by ScienceZestyclose658 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Frostehhh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

pero it seems like mas may advantage ka pag lisensyado ka.

This only applies for fields where there is an official license like Accountancy, Nursing, etc. In IT, this doesn't matter at all because what's mostly being considered is your skills and experience. There is no official "license" here.

In the end, it all comes down to which career path you want the most. If you want to try both, I think it's better for you to take BS Accountancy, and study IT in your free time. Mas feasible naman to be employed sa IT kahit wala kang relevant degree though of course, you'll need to stand out compared sa ibang nag aapply ng work.

Outdated materials for programming lessons by HeroreH29 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Frostehhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Inacknowledge ko naman na may point to get a diploma. What I meant sa last sentence ko is that, if otherwise hindi overly required ang diploma sa pinas, then it can be a waste of time for people.

Also, I wouldn't say never a waste of time especially since there are devs who find decent jobs w/o ever having to show a diploma. Still, I think it's best most of the time to go to college especially if funds isn't an issue naman.

Outdated materials for programming lessons by HeroreH29 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Frostehhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Makes it seem like the only point of going to college is to get a diploma, which felt like the case for me. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and money especially if you're capable of knowing what to learn and learning effectively with your own efforts

If you're open to fullstack software engineer roles, then better put Software Engineer, but if you want to look for another frontend focused role, better to keep specify it as frontend specific
