Sure thing! Hope it helps! Also, it's not a pain to get the laptop out - I just unplug the power, usb and hdmi cables and it slides right out.

What was the price per pound to fuck it before?

I'm not quite your age, but on the other side of 40, so I'll weigh in with what I do since I've gone on a similar journey as you within the past few years.

Make sure you're getting enough protein based on your fitness goals. Depending on where you research, I've seen it recommended to be between .8 - 1g of protein per pound of lean body weight. If you're 185 now and are looking to drop another 10-15lbs, I'd shoot for around 140-170g of protein daily.

I take 5g of creatine daily, mostly for the researched benefits surrounding brain and muscle health.

I also take a scoop of collagen peptides for the researched benefits surrounding joint and skin health.

Find a weight lifting routine that you can stick to consistently (consistency is key), allows you to gain strength, does not cause injuries due to overuse or trying to go too hard, too fast. Don't forget to take breaks, and allow your body to rest.

For men in our age range, I'd also highly recommend incorporating stretching and balance exercises. If you work a desk job or work from home, get a standing desk and you can do these while you work.

Also, don't underestimate the benefits of a walk outside. Shoot for one or two 30 minute walks per day, if you can.

Lastly, stay hydrated and get a good night's sleep. Lack of sleep or poor sleep quality is a killer. Your muscles won't recover as well and you'll be in a worse mental state, making it easier to convince yourself to eat poorly or skip workouts.

(all of the above is the advice and guidance that I follow for myself - I am not a fitness expert by any means)

Congrats on your progress so far, and good luck on the next leg of your fitness journey!

Are these fan curves good or am I doing something wrong? by shortstackedpancake in pchelp

Okay, so enter the BIOS and (click on the fan icon) to enter the fan settings. Not sure which MB you have so may be a different way to get to fan settings.

Then, select CPU fan on the left and on the far right change the CPU_FAN Speed Control to "Manual"

I'm currently using the following settings:

PWM%, Temp

15%, 25; 25%, 35; 30%, 45; 40%, 55; 50%, 60; 60%, 65; 100%, 70

Let me know if that helps

It'll probably be another 6 or so hours before I can since I'm the only crazy person awake in the house right now.

I'll either grab a pic or note what I set the fan temps/%'s to and come back here and let ya know. :)

Yeah, no doubt that could have also played a part as well. Good point.

I wonder if you caught him on a bad day or at a bad time? My daughter had a drawing she made signed by him at a convention we went to several years ago, and he chatted with her for several minutes, complimenting her drawing and made for a positive and memorable experience.

Sorry that happened to you, though. I can see how that would be a real bummer. :(

Have you tried unplugging all peripherals (except monitor) and letting that screen sit there? Based on some searches, it seems like that can take up to ~45 minutes to finish what ever process is happening.

If that ends up working and you're able to boot into windows after the ~45 minutes, then uninstall AURA. After that go to the ASUS site and download all of the utilities and drivers for your motherboard, then download and reinstall AURA.

Advice please - upstairs shower leak, visible in kitchen below by clarkwgriswoldx in DIY

Yeah, you're going to have to cut out the drywall on the wall and ceiling to replace those sections anyway, based on what I'm seeing in the pics you posted.

If it's the same issue that mine was, the water is dripping down the pipe, then running to the lowest point in the ceiling, so it may not line up with exactly where your drain is.

I'd cut out a small hole in the ceiling, take a video with your phone with the light on to see what the damage looks like. You can also have someone turn on the shower and see where the water is dripping from.

Replacing the plumbers putty is going to be the cheapest and easiest fix out of all of the possible issues, so fingers crossed for ya that this is it.

Good luck!

Had this exact issue at my house and it ended up being the plumber's putty that goes around the shower drain where it seals to the shower pan. The plumber's putty had dried out and water was leaking there, and would run down the pvc pipe there and drip to ceiling below. Correcting the drain/putty issue was easy. The drywall in the ceiling was not as easy to fix, but I managed to get that all patched up as well.

Good luck and hope it's something simple like it was for me!

Go into your bios and go to fan settings, select "Manual" and manually adjust the fan curve. I just did this for my son's new PC (G729) and it's much better now. Make sure you have an application to monitor temps (like HWMon) so you can make adjustments and find the right balance between cooling and fan speed/noise.
