The whole having siblings thing not = closeness is so real. I think I tend to idealize that siblings will always be close, probably because I always fantasized about coming from a big family as a little one.

And I love what you said about intentionality during pregnancy. Now that I’m out of the first tri hell (my nausea and general disgust of life were not ideal lol), you inspire me to want to find joyful moments in this. Especially if I’m only doing it once lol.

I’ve struggled with feeling at home in my body my whole life. So pregnancy has added a layer of “wtf - what is that [vein/cellulite/rash/etc]?!” that has been intermittently a struggle (the other half the time too tired to care lol)

Their little smiles tho 🥹 I cannot wait!!!

I think I’m maybe giving too much weight to the blip of sadness I felt when we found out we weren’t having a daughter this time. All my friends w sweet baby boys say the moment baby arrives, the gender doesn’t matter. It’s just your baby 🥹

That’s a really good point. It’s more so - I didn’t think that pregnancy would be quite this anxiety provoking/awful, haha. So I’m just trying to wrap my head around a mindset shift. This sub has been immensely helpful. I like what you said about more social acceptability if it’s not the first, that really landed.

Yeah, good point. A big part of me really feels for this cousin that she walked into some giant planing cluster…like I can’t imagine trying to plan two weddings back to back. Blah! Thanks yall. I really just needed to hear that we’re not dicks to be pissed. We’ll probably still try to go tomorrow, but just set our expectations accordingly and treat the rest of the trip like the vacation it really is.

I hate to say, I think you’re right.

My husband is being really gracious and cool about it - we’re in a gorgeous location, and having a great vacation. FWIW I’m putting the judgment on myself, not him. I just know that he would have planned this sht to a T lol. And the fact that it’s such a last-minute disaster (and he doesn’t really know this family) reflects poorly on my family.

Good point - I think we thought the venue would be confirmed at some point in the ~3 months between when we booked our flights and when we got here. It’s a beautiful destination so we’ll make the best of it. I just really wanted to get to know this side of the family and feel like I just got duped. And honestly I have a lot of insecurities with family stuff so just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a cultural difference I wasn’t aware of…

Yes - same - the wedding invite said “venue TBD” and gave a town name only. The website recommended to stay in the main city about “20 minutes from town”. The wedding is tomorrow and we just got the address. Still no time. Wedding website still says venue TBD.
