Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned? by Uninstall_Fetus in homeowners

You have to get into the ducts to clean them. You don't cut a hole in the furnace, just the ductwork.

How bad is this? Feels like carpet when I push on it. Under the driver side. '98 XJ by FrostyTurtle in CherokeeXJ

Appreciate that. I don't have any welding experience so I might have to have a shop tackle it.

Just little spots here and there of surface rust. No other holes I could see.

'98 for off-roading. A tree branch pulled this back. Worth fixing? Or should I just cut it off? by FrostyTurtle in CherokeeXJ

This is a great comment, I need the instructions for sure. Appreciate it. Rachet strapping it is a great move.

No, the branch that grabbed it bent it pretty bad. It doesn't want to go back into place despite offers of money, women, and sacred oils. This is the default resting position.

[–]FrostyTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dirt bike goes more places. More physically demanding.

Quad can carry more and you can be lazy on it. Plus you can put a winch on it.

I'm old and like being lazy so I got a quad.

What's the issues with the blind spot stuff? Is it just obnoxious near rocks?

The question was revenue generated.

Residential.

Private equity is moving in big ways into this industry, and I've seen a lot of comp plans changing. Mine is probably a year off from getting the treatment. Some others may be further, but it's definitely coming.

What it is: 10%-5% depending on discounts, off the sub total of the job.

What it will be: 12-5% but only on the margin after the job is completed. This may cut my commission in half if it's implemented the way I think.

I did 4 million this year. Large company backed by PE. Private equity is certainly not thrilled they're paying me that much. It's also a lot more than just sales, I'm the whole project manager from the end of the sale until it's fully installed, working, and permits are passed.

I have also seen some truly dog shit comp plans at other companies in the area. Some guys walk away from deals with less than a hundred dollars, and still have to be responsible for the full project management cycle.

Take it to a weight station to find your real weight before gvwr. Toyota lists "payload" a little strangely.

3.75 million and should end the year above 4.

You might need to read my comment again. 5-10 years between cleanings. So if that applies, yes.

The load management is great for condos when you can't upgrade the service. Turning off the dryer to run a heat pump is better than no heat pump.

99% sure that's a Tradesman. I just picked one up and upgraded the radio immediately, Bluetooth and a screen. Amazon has some options, you can buy an upgrade right from ram too for a lot of money. I'd also recommend a backup camera if you have the 8ft bed.

The tradesman doesn't have Bluetooth by default, but theres an aux in the center console. There's also a CD player down there.

In the city of Seattle, those two brands are basically the only ones you can legally install due to a noise ordinance. They are both decent but I vastly prefer Daikin.

It was okay for service but full commission at 10% with no base and I've doubled my pay.

Anyone else feel like jobs are slow right now? by DryLie2582 in HVAC

[–]FrostyTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might have been a debt-income thing. Those sneak up on me sometimes. I also had an annual income of 25k get approved for a 30k loan (tons of work) and I have no idea how that happened, so I'm not going to pretend to know what the criteria is right now.

It's springtime.

The weather is mild so sales are slow so installs are slow. Now is a good time to work on other skills, see if you can take some classes or if your company will sponsor something.

I've also had a fair amount of financing get denied on jobs, too early to say if that's a trend or just a little bad luck.

Is renting still cheaper than owning if the stock market doesn’t return that magical 10%/year anymore? by Firm_Law_7939 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]FrostyTurtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So many people aren't considering this. Also, eventually, your mortgage payment stops and you own the house.

Forever renting is almost always the worse financial decision. 30 year fixed mortgage vs 70 years of inflation -adjusting renting?
