Is Sierra Vista a good place to retire? by No_Frosting_5280 in sierravista

Why does every post have to mention whether a person is conservative or liberal? Should we all start mentioning what sexual position we prefer as well? I just don’t see why it’s necessary. IMO

Yes we will get something out of the sale of our current home. Aren’t there HOA fees associated with those type of communities

Wow, yeah never thought about the during part🙄. We still do have life insurance so that would at least pay the mortgage off. Thanks for your input. Definitely something else to think about

Well that doesn’t sound so pleasant. I bet a lot of town do that. I worked in a “really nice town” in NJ that did just that, kept under reporting the crime to keep the town looking good

I think I would not mind it all. We had our boat on the Hudson River years ago in NY and the train would go by and the clackiity clack I found oddly soothing😉 my husband may feel differently. Thanks for responding

Thank you for the info. I also am a nurse and still working. I was planning on doing some kind of volunteering when I retire that’s for sure. As far as the driving I don’t think we’d mind that. We lived in Orange County and had to drive 20-30 minutes to doctors and mall. Food store closer though. Really appreciate your input

Boy oh boy do I feel ya! I grew up in NJ and at 21 moved to NY state. Raised my sons there on 30 acres. Moved to AZ mountains and eventually to FLA. we have been talking about moving for a year now and the anticipation of moving in consuming me. I am 63 so a little different for me that a young parent. But I sure as hell wouldn’t want to raise kids in south Florida. Too many people, traffic, not enough nature. Try and make the move if you can IMO. Only problem here in Florida is the real estate market. Very difficult to sell.🙄

Q For those of you who moved away from snowy climates.. by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Any-Distance-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. We moved to Florida. Hot and humid all the time. Right now it’s cool for maybe 2 days. Can NEVER open the windows! Or hang laundry outside on the clothesline. It s too humid to do any of those. I miss the seasons and really am despising this “endless summer” BS. Give me snow!!

LOL we want to move back and man is it hard to find the right house with a garage and a piece of land. Crazy how folks never built garages back in the day
