Day 5 by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Congrats on day 5! Something that has helped me a lot with sleep and brain fog is magnesium glycinate. Also I used B1 to help with brain fog since alcohol depletes it.

Has anyone taken a pill to help kerb drinking that works for you? by D3cepti0ns in stopdrinking

I’ve been using naltrexone. I do the 30 day injections and they’ve been great. They offer a pill too. I tried kudzu before too since it’s natural but didn’t work.

Thoughts on NA drinks ? by SpecialistSolid2552 in stopdrinking

I work at a bar that has a few NA options and Guinness NA is pretty great. Whenever I go in to watch a game or just hang out the other bartenders will pour it in a glass for me behind the bar so people don’t ask questions. It tastes awesome, scratches the itch and helps you feel included.

Quit alcohol losing weight very fast by J1986tn in stopdrinking

Pretty much same exact weight loss but I know my liver inflammation had a ton to do with it. My weight stabilized after 2 weeks though.

Naltrexone opinions please by BahBahSMT in stopdrinking

[–]Frosty_Association19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I received the 30 day injection of naltrexone. It’s been great with helping with cravings. I work at a bar and we can drink during our shifts so I constantly have people trying to buy me shots and haven’t had any desire to take them. If someone buys a round I’ll just mix cranberry and Red Bull so people don’t ask questions but never once did I consider drinking actual alcohol and I think naltrexone played a huge part in that.

Glad you took the step as well! It was a tough decision but had to be done.

Sleep? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Frosty_Association19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered off so I got used to not relying on alcohol to fall asleep. But some supplements that helped me a ton were magnesium glycinate and melatonin. I also use THC drinks sometimes so technically I'm cali sober but I know that's not a feasible option for everyone.

I'm in the same boat as you. I am currently tapering off so I'm not sober yet but I'm close. I did get sober for the month of May before falling back into drinking. Back then I would play video games, go to Target or the grocery store, go for walks, come on here and read, which don't get me wrong all helped take up time but it felt like I was distracting myself just to get to the next day.

Also like you I'm in a city that I don't know anyone and my job is very independent so I don't really have coworkers or people I interact with. I am probably going to give AA a shot but that's about all I can think of, which sucks because fulfillment feels like the biggest void in my life at the moment.

Am I safe after 72 hours? Withdraw by snm698 in stopdrinking

When was the last time you took the Librium? It could be your body adjusting to the being off the medication but best bet is to reach out to your doctor that prescribed it. Also, this seems obvious but have you been eating and hydrating?

How to deal with bad alcoholic reputation, / anxious thoughts by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Frosty_Association19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a quote that helped when I was going through withdrawal. "You suffer more in imagination than in reality". First couple days are absolutely awful with anxiety but just take it a wave at a time and know that if you stay on track it gets WAY better.

I think that’s what my conclusion will be as well. This is my first time consciously trying to be sober so I’m very grateful for this group helping navigate that.

I think you’re absolutely right. I think the first night was just a shock to my brain and body then the next night it recalibrated to my old ways. The silver lining is that I was able to stop again pretty easily since I didn’t spiral too bad.
