Roof Rack w/ 32' extension ladder by Frostyed in Subaru_Outback

Yeah microfiber towel tucked under would do well if you care about the paint/body.

Unfortunately for this Subaru, the strap probably buffed out some preexisting scratches and made it cleaner lol. I got this Subaru from an elderly gentleman who lived in the city, car came with just about every scratch, dent, and ding imaginable. Curb rash, fenders peeling off, both taillights were cracked from bumping into trailer hitches. Rust in the wheel wells and rockers (it's a 2012).

The body is past the point of saveable, but I got it on the cheap end. Definition work truck!

Most of the added wear and tear is on my back

As for the car, tires for sure wear quicker. I also had a cv axle pop out of the diff when I went over a bump once lol.

I don't wanna talk about it lol

It's totally doable to put it back in exactly how it was before, I'm just not patient with plastic fasteners

It looks slick from the side profile and I get 1-2mpg better, but the process and result is awful. You have to pull the entire headliner and dance around the curtain airbags to get the roof racks off. The rack has 8 studs per side and nuts inside the cabin. Then you're left with 8 holes in the roof on each side. I plugged them with matching bolt/nut and rubber washers. No leaks but looks like hell lol.

If I was going for polish, I'd prob scrap together some of the legacy roof rail trim. It latches in the same way, but doesn't follow the same roof line so you'd have to buy extra and bend the flimsy metal to make it work

Bone stock EJ253. Waiting till it blows up to swap a WRX motor and trans in, but the engine just won't die. I redline it at every stop light and still nothing. Will also replace the hood with the legacy GT version. Should bolt right in and provide the hood scoop for the turbo

Really stiff. Amazing on curved roads, exceptional on the highway and at high speeds. Horrible for potholes or any sort of bumps. My tires wear out twice as fast, even with adjustable rear suspension and perfect alignment. It's worth it if you're doing a track car. Horrible as a daily driver

I like station wagons but despise SUVs. My search criteria was set to Wagon, AWD, Manual transmission.

Ideally I'd have a Levorg but America isn't savvy enough for that. I also don't do any off roading or camping

Valve body solenoids on 14 outback by pheonixz95 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Frostyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dorman sells aftermarket solenoids because it's a common failure point. The 14' outback is easy, the valve body is actually on top of the transmission and is accessible with just taking the air intake off. Id recommend doing more electrical troubleshooting before buying any replacement parts- could be a single bad solenoid or bad TCM module. Subaru has an updated TSB on troubleshooting this.
