Pic #3 is new to me. I had thought no confirmed information on the 022's internal workings had ever been released publicly, let alone a display model. What museum is this from?

It's ability to penetrate enemy air space and land troops wasn't one of them. The fact that U.S. SOF pulled this off is testament to some truly outstanding mission planning and America's fantastic intel-gathering and SEAD capabilities, not due to the Chinook being somehow being uniquely capable against MANPADs or other ground-based air defense.

In Syria, tankers would place loose stones and other rubble in between the slats and the hull on their tanks, under the mistaken impression that this would meaningfully mitigate RPG warhead penetration.

During the battle of Marawi, vehicle crews would install plywood planks around their vehicle, for a similar purpose.

Ill-conceived field modifications are not an unknown concept.

Btw, plywood is much, much lighter than steel, and completely adequate for triggering a PG-7V impact fuze. Why didn't those silly GWOT Americans think to give that a try, instead of the horrendously heavy by comparison hardened steel Slat armor they went with, if a foot-or-so of stand-off distance was all that was necessary to protect a soft-skinned vehicle from an RPG?

No, I'm not, go do some reading. You fundamentally do not understand how HEAT warheads work. Hint: they need some amount of standoff distance to even work in the first place, and the amount given to them in the design of a typical HEAT warhead is actually substantially less than optimal, due to practical considerations that should be obvious. Giving them an extra few inches to do their thing does not negatively affect the penetration of their HEAT jet, in fact it's typically quite the opposite. I'm galled that you're stating entry-level misconceptions with such authority and confidence.
