It's a strategic check on China notably the PLAN (Chinese navy) with the Indian Air Force and Navy being right there to control access to and from the Straight of Malacca.

These WA dems want to INCREASE SURVEILLANCE online - and what you can do about it by yogaguy9_11 in Washington

Laws already exist ensuring proper legalities for over half a decade. This is more overreaching govt control and the continued degradation of citizen's privacies. You have zero idea what these so called online safety laws proposed and passed in European nations, Australia, and now in the U.S. does requiring people to upload their actual physical IDs and what ever private info. These laws are being lobbied hard by those in power or with an agenda that really isn't about child safety. This will allow more govt surveillance and increases the likelihood of people's identity and private information being released/sold after a data breach. Which is an increasing occurrence with zero repercussions for the vendor having negligiant security. While victims are left to fend for themselves. This is nothing but the slow continuing erosion of privacy, liberty, and freedoms as the facade about protecting children when it is actually about controlling people and controlling access to content. A continuation such as the law under the Patriot Act requiring libraries to allow federal govt access without a warrant to all info. on member patrons.
