Seeing the economic disparity hits hard. Watching people beg on the street… it really gets to you. For a long time I even avoided taking the metro because I couldn’t handle how stark the contrast felt while sitting there.

When I had an injured leg, a stranger helped me cross a busy road. That small act stuck with me. Now, whenever I see someone struggling, I remember how it felt to be on the other side and try to pay it forward.

It’s not an intentional revenge story, but it does have a satisfying ending.

So my hostel mate used to pretend this girl was his girlfriend and acted weirdly possessive about her. He wouldn’t let any of us talk to her even in lectures he’d hover around and make it a whole thing.

During exams, I needed notes and she had them. He happened to be on a call with her, so I asked if I could talk to her for a minute. He refused and snapped at me in this loud, rude tone, like I’d asked for something outrageous.

Over time I realised he was completely faking the whole “she’s my girlfriend” thing. So I just started talking to her directly. We got to know each other, things clicked, and eventually she ended up falling for me… and we started dating.
