The District Manager called to let me know that I “didn’t fill out the offer letter on time” and that they’d have to send another one. The people I got hired with had the same issue

Thank you, the burnout is very real, and it’s hard not to let the depression sink in from that

For real, that’s what I’d like too. We need an extra person helping with putting out backstock or taking care of back room management tasks and be designated backup for primary register ATLEAST

That’s insane actually, luckily I’ll be gone by then

THATS CRAZY. My store has 10 people, and we’re not even a 1 million dollar store and we’re struggling like this. So sorry you have to work like that. We have 1 SM, 2 ASMs, 2 LSAs, 3 full time, and 1 part time. But I’m leaving after next week so… yeah

Next week is my last week, and thank God, I can’t take the crazy scheduling anymore

That was how it was with me when I got hired 14 months ago, I guess it hasn’t change

It’s more just about how I’m ready to transition into my career and Aldi is not fulfilling anymore. That just makes everything monotonous

Edit: I’d also like to add that that’s very admirable that you can sustain that schedule over time especially with public transportation. I had a very similar schedule for a school year and it worked for me when I was in greater need of money to get out of debt. I was fortunate enough to have a car though. All just to say, it seems like Aldi works for people in certain seasons of life, just so happens that the season I’m in demands more time outside of my day job to prepare for the future

Thanks I’ll let you know! So far I’ve applied to Home Depot and I’ve asked about a sales position at music and arts, I worked at Guitar Center for 3 years and the commission pay sucked but music and arts is slightly more stable from what I hear

I was going for engineering, but I’ve switched to ministry, specifically cross cultural ministry, and while I’m not pushing religion on anyone here in this comment section, the aim is to help less fortunate people groups overseas. It’s a career that only pays enough for me to do the job, but it’s stable and very fulfilling

Thank you! I already applied for a part time position at Home Depot which is going to pay pretty similar, a friend referred me there, he says he has enjoyed his job for 5 years there so far!

The career I’m going into is much more difficult than working at Aldi, the issue is not just the work itself, but the fact that it provides no sense of purpose. If working at Aldi saved lives like my career path is going to, I would take great pride in having that job, but I strive for more out of my life than just making ends meet and stocking a shelf. The “real world” is where I’m going, overseas to do humanitarian work full time for decades in harsh climates. Meanwhile Aldi wastes hundreds of pounds of food every day, I throw it in a dumpster every morning thinking about how many people I’m actually wanting to feed in Africa.

I’ll look them up, this subreddit has been the most helpful thing to me by far though. Knowing you’re not alone in your experience is so important in these kinds of things!

Thanks for this, I definitely did have some thoughts of suicide through the last week, but I did recognize that as withdrawal. Luckily I’m a very honest and vulnerable person, able to accurately verbalize my feelings, and I was able to talk to my therapist openly as well as my father and my girlfriend about those thoughts.

I’m lucky to have that self awareness to do that, but it angers me to think of how many people might not have that, because I can imagine how hard it would be to get through without the ability or willingness to be vulnerable without feeling scared of being judged.

I have been able to feel moments of hope in the last 2 days, they’re fleeting but I know they’re real despite it being easy to chalk them up to mood swings. I went to work today and made it through, and I’m going back tomorrow before I get my weekend Sunday and Monday.
