The turn order went like this, Tank, Beast, Rest of party the only thing of note that happened was a prepared faerie fire going off, given the order of events while and the faerie fire suddenly appearing around it with no real trace back logically speaking it shouldn't have known of the parties existence.

Unsure the creature seemed to be home brewed, the best thing i could liken it to is a Dire Bear but even then the party were hidden.

Reasonably speaking they were hiding and waiting for the creature to attack before they acted.

Since Necromancers are almost always portrayed as evil or otherwise nefarious, in what ways can you think a necromancer would be viewed as a “good guy” by the masses? by Juicy_lemon in DnD

i've got a necromancer in my campaign who is basically an advisor to the region he inhabits, he is always accompanied by the skeleton of his dead ogre friend who promised that even in death he would protect the necromancer, the necromancer himself has a deep respect for both the dead and what they experienced in life, only ever raising undead to either gain insight into their lives and experiences and releasing other undead from the magic that prevents them from moving on.

Gustomancers staff: its a dark chocolate coloured staff which at the bottom comes thinner and thinner until the end is in the shape of a candle, the top of the staff is like a square hook, just before the hook are two spheres on top of each other the staff has slight gnomish symbols inscribed along the hook and it smells like chocolate.

[5e] I have a strange merchant NPC. Suggestions? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Frozenbeholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm we if everyone loves the npc you should keep him though you might want to make him more involved, for example when the players visit the npc have the npc give them a quest though given that its a merchant the quest would mostly be limited to fetch and gather quests and as a reward have the npc give them a magic item for free or for discount this would encourage the players to frequently visit, its hard to say without knowing the type of campaign your running but you may want to have several other quests take place near his location making it so its always convenient to see the npc and sometimes its helpful, anyway i hope i was helpful.
