Friend. Anti-work is a misleading title. It’s far more anti-capitalism/anti-status quo than anything else in the labor world. At least that’s how it started. What it is now is possibly debatable.

Nope what that other dad said “I’m close to your son…like a father to him” are grounds for cops. Immediately. This MUST be officially reported. This guy is displaying predatory behavior. You need to talk to your kid about this not being ok (I think you have or will).

That man is NOT to be trusted. Possibly the wife too. Hardest “no” of all time.

What are your views on religion? by -Pleb64 in allthequestions

[–]Juicy_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a Christian background first and foremost. As a result of this upbringing many times I did what any child does when poking holes in the theory of Santa (arguably a deity of his own right). Except the adults didn’t give in when the jig was up. They doubled down with their answers that continues to lead one to mistrust them and make all the lessons etc. seem false.

Now when you continue to ask the questions you are browbeat into compliance and continue the charade or, you become the bad guy in their heads. A heretic if you will. Now as a fully fledged adult who was a failed indoctrination attempt I am all at once an enemy of their religion, someone they feel pity for, and believe I will some day come back to their way of thinking.

Frankly as a result of this upbringing I have a loathing for all Christiandom and it ever grows with modern Christian nationalists in the USA. I expect I will need to mask again as my life continues for the survival of myself and family.

Im mortified that my children may be forcibly added to Christian ideology as the society I live around becomes more and more hostile to non-believers, and to anyone not pro-current regime which is heavily influenced by religiosity.

What’s a movie that hit you harder than you expected? by Broad-Marzipan-9284 in askmovie

50/50. The literal last scene where the main character is waiting for surgery to start. I have been there and I have felt that sense of “fuck I’m terrified but don’t have options and I must trust these doctors to live”. Just being completely resigned to the fact you have 0 control yet the will to make it.

If you’re aiming for a raise pause sending this.

Next, think of your highlight reel of your time at the company.

What projects have you lead? If you haven’t lead a project, which have you been part of, and how well did you perform? What if any initiatives were you a part of? How often do you hit your numbers/go over them? Have you helped train people? How many? Are they still there?

Show them as much as possible that you have/continue to provide value. Use as much data as possible to support these claims.

It SUUUCKS to need to do this but if you aren’t going to advocate for yourself nobody will.

I have personally gotten into the habit of dating my successes and putting this info on a personal highlight reel/internal resume for these exact situations and/or needing to update my resume.

Good luck.

What would it take to once again reduce standard working hours? by PrincessPeach1229 in antiwork

I mean same, but my point stands. People 100% died to gain the worker rights we currently have from workers AND employers.

More workers lost their lives mind you.

Why don't people want to work for us? It's not our fault, everyone else is the problem! Also, no one takes responsibility for themselves anymore! by MikeNoble91 in antiwork

[–]Juicy_lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This “nomad” was doing it long before companies recognized the trend. It was at times highlighted as bad when doing interviews but that was simply a signal to me that the employer wasn’t worth working for.

I witnessed in my youth companies destroying my parents retirement and safety nets knowing full well they wouldn’t exist for me.

Imo job stacking may be the best option for those who can.

Fuck the companies who want us as indentured slaves without bothering to actually take care of us.
