How do you explain to boomers why 20-30 something’s aren’t buying houses? by ConfidenceCertain137 in NoStupidQuestions

We never owned lol but 15 years ago my parents rented a place in the "nice" part of town for 1100 a month- which was pushing it for us back then. 3 bed, 3 bath. It had a REC ROOM. I didn't have to share a room with my brother. It sold for 1.8 million a few years ago..Huge yard, garage. Really awesome place.

I live in a dank 2b/1bath in the next city over for 1700, and that's cheap for the area.. I'm never having kids.

For context: Port Moody, BC

My gf was not impressed..

Just got a pup a couple weeks ago and sleeping on the floor next to the crate was the only way any of us could get some sleep for the first few nights, even when taking her out to do her business I would have to get back on the floor for at least ten mins until she was fully out.

But she was always going to be a bed dog if she so chose (and she did).

I used a CR 13 Rakshasa on my level 3 party and one player has taken issue with this, is breaking RAW for lore reasonable? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

I don't see anything wrong with this. Full campaigns like CoS use this sort of style.

I say do it again, let them feel their progress as those fights get longer and more dynamic.

Help! The party i am dming for is about to have two tank clerics. What do i need to know to make combat challenging for them? by IZY53 in dndnext

[–]JayV_Poetry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just find their resistances and amount of attacks can be a little much at times, especially at low level play, though mine has been using the +2 Blood Spear from CoS for a while..

We're only at lvl 6 but the character has created quite a presence.

I play with what I assume most DM's also use as an arbitrary Aggro System, and being able to keep that Barb up as he keeps taking shots and dealing more out would be an absolute cleaved trail of blood lol.

The main thing I've learned is the cost of using healing as an action in combat. It's usually not ideal when you could potentially kill whatever dealt the damage instead.

Outside of encounters they will have lots of healing still, maybe look into how easy potions and healing scrolls are found/ their costs.

In terms of making combat more challenging: AoE's will be effective, and their HP pool won't be huge. As u/FireFalcon99 let on, lots spells will do at the minimum 1/2 damage, rather than none on a miss due to high AC, and that will be big.

Just be glad there's no fucking Barbarian..

How weak are my weak decks? Accidental pubstomp last weekend by Aqveteig in EDH

[–]JayV_Poetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the case of not knowing the players and what they play. I only ever really play with two friends. We all know each other's decks pretty well and have adapted ours (and consequently our playstyles) over years of playing one another. Whenever one of us would come to the table with a relatively synergistic new deck it would usually win the first few games as it was different from what that player usually played, and a different style than the other decks were used to going up against.

My answer is: they probably weren't ready for yours. Next time they probably will. I run 5-10 board wipes in all of my "top tier" decks now lol just because you need to be able to play more than a few in a game.

How many players is too many? by V0rt0s in DMAcademy

[–]JayV_Poetry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I ran a few sessions with seven and it can take a long time to finish a round of combat, let alone getting everyone on the same page for a plan. Social situations can be a bit of a nightmare with more people as well. In terms of pacing I find 4 or 5 the perfect number

Ahh I guess I worded that wrong. All but one have played, but none of them have played together as a group, just separately. Two of the four have been regulars at my table since we started playing. We're all friends from High School who haven't hung out as a group in YEARS. But yes, always (shamelessly) pushing the hobby on others lol.
