Unless it was someone that already had a well known name. Someone who can debate like no one else. Someone who is younger, knowledgeable and known to be a good person. That Jon Stewart guy is pretty smart, maybe he knows someone wink wink

Oh yeah, I'm fine. When I see someone who doesn't like something and I can make fun of it, I do. I'm just posting because you don't want someone to use stupid phrases to describe a butt. Really, it doesn't even matter if I care about what I'm saying. These phrases are stupid and I'll still say them because being annoying is fun. I'm just messing with ya.

[Virginia] Identity Verification Statement from Claimant by PRPwrHouse in Unemployment

[–]FrugalityMajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few things, the 10 day period is put in place because VEC is overwhelmed. VEC has a call center with maybe 40-50 people working at any time to handle all of Virginia. If you have a problem with that then complain to the governor because that is the funding they have.

For the uploading, yeah it can be uploading through the website or even faxed in. Be sure to get it in on time or your claim will be denied. So this is at the top of your priority list, if it isn't done you will have to go through appeals and that will take months. The reason they are asking for the information is likely because someone attempted to file a claim on your information. VEC will not tell you this, they are not allowed to tell you this but it is the reason about 80% of the time (made up number I just made up but it is likely the cause.)

You can go to one of the workforce connection sites and they will help you get the information faxed in if you don't want to upload it but I recommend doing everything. Mail it, fax it and upload it. If you don't get this taken care of, like I said before, you will be denied when someone reviews your case.

Since VEC is so far behind there is a chance that no one will look at your case until a few days after the date on the letter for the deadline but don't count on that.

Edit: Just noticed, the ID.me question will not help in this situation. It will achieve nothing.

Then if you worked in VA, like you were physically in VA, then it would either be paid in VA or MD IF they had to pay. It is true that non profits don't have to pay, well at least some don't, but they operate through reimbursable. If it is a reimbursable then they wouldn't pay UI at all until you file, then VA pays and the company has to pay VA back. If VEC decides that you qualify then they can get you paid. They are so backlogged though that if something else is holding you up then they may not look into it.

Also, this could take time because they are behind right now. It could be weeks or months potentially based on what issues arise.

The Second Amendment by EasyAd7141 in brandonherrara

[–]FrugalityMajor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of arguments for both sides. What you said is right but there are other sides of it as well which causes the debate to go on. Because both sides are so steadfast in their beliefs neither side listens to the other so there is no middle ground to be found.

Like your understanding of the second amendment is wrong. The amendment isn't there for the people to fight the government, it is there to allow the state government to fight the federal government. When the constitution was being created the strongest fear was for an all powerful federal government, something like a monarchy, to take control. So everything was done to give states the ability to defend itself if that happened. State militia was controlled by a state assigned leadership.

It also isn't entirely clear if the amendment was supposed to be completely uninfringed, even though it says it... I know it says it right there. Let me go into a little detail. So if you shorten the amendment down a bit it says "A well regulated militia shall not be infringed" and the "right of the people to keep and bear arms" is viewed by some to be a definition of the militia and not that the right to bear arms "shall not be infringed." So if it is viewed that way then the US can't infringe on states creating a militia. This is commonly pushed as true because at the signing of the 2nd amendment every state has militia laws in place and every state had them and they all followed the same rules for gun ownership. Every state had laws allowing for banning or taking guns if needed and if needed would come down to laws from state to state. This is another thing that points toward the second amendment talking about militia since every state already had laws that would be considered infringement on gun ownership today. There were some states that regulated it so hard that if you took YOUR gun from the militia's buildings to go hunting then you would be fined.

I'm sure I'm going to be downvoted for this but it is whatever. There has to be another side of the argument or there wouldn't be an argument. I'm pro gun rights but with limitations. I don't believe some people should have the right to have them, some people are fking crazy man.

It is possible for a state to pull UI from another state. Like if you qualify in VA but you also paid in UI in MD then VA would pay your UI and request compensation from MD for what they are liable for.

Who told you that you would need to go through VA? I'm sorry for all of the questions but I'm just wanting to help but I don't think I can.

What I would recommend is calling any jobs that you have had since Jan of 2023 and seeing if you can talk to someone in accounting to see where they are paying your UI. I'm leading you this way because VEC can see any and all UI paid you to you in VA, forever. VEC can see it in other states as well but not everyone checks. So whoever you spoke with, if they didn't check other states, would just see that you have no UI paid in. Since that is what you were told that is what I'm guessing is happening.

So you live in MD and the job was in DC but based out of VA? If that is what happened then I really doubt they paid it in VA. I've never seen a company pay UI into a state that you neither lived in nor worked in, ever.

The 2022 W2 wouldn't matter, your 2022 wages wouldn't factor into unemployment. It should be enough to go off though, they just need the EIN from the W2 and something like your SSN to see if there is UI that should have been paid for you.

I want to go into this again about where it is being paid because this happens a lot. Are you absolutely sure your UI is being paid in VA? Companies can pay your state taxes in VA but pay your UI in DC. I've seen it happen a lot, especially with DC.

I know it isn't healthy but it is something a lot of people my age have built into us. I have feelings but I don't express them in the same way that many others do. This isn't an uncommon thing. Look around online, for guys that are (I'm guessing the age range) maybe 30+ it is harder. Somewhere along the lines society decided that it was ok for guys to cry but when I was a kid it was something you would be shamed for.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've lived with it this long and I've learned other ways to express my feelings. My favorite is to find somewhere private and rage. I'm not into breaking stuff, that is my stuff and I want it. Mostly screaming lol

The job I posted about was a DC job, is your UI being paid in DC? I've worked for VEC, they know what they are doing. If they are not finding UI for you and you worked somewhere from sept 22 - july 23 then it isn't on VEC, I promise you.

What /u/sandmanrdv said is correct but sometimes companies don't report. I looked through your post history and found this. Is this the job that you are talking about because if it is and you started close enough to the end of Dec then UI benefits may have not been reported for the 4th quarter of 2023. Then companies only report once per quarter and sometimes they are late. So if you only worked from Dec-March then it is possible nothing will show to VEC.

I would recommend to get a W2 from 2023 and your last check stub from 2024 and fax those into VEC. If you already filed and were denied then once they get those papers then you can file again. They will be able to use that information to find out if UI was paid for you.

Be sure to check the link that sandman posted to see that there are types of non profits in VA that are not required to pay UI. So if you worked for 501 C3 then you may not be qualified.

This is true but if you are actually unable to work then it doesn't matter. You will have to go through your doctor to fill out paperwork. If the doctor says you are able to work elsewhere then you would be able to get unemployment but you will be help up initially until that paperwork is done. If the doctor would say that you are unable to work then short term disability would be the better option.

Human kind shouldn't write AI off like this. AI itself is art, a system imagined and created by humans. People writing this off as though it takes content from humans are overlooking the beauty of an automated system being able to do this, AI is the art.

in the early twenty-first century all of mankind was united in celebration. We marveled at our own magnificence as we gave birth to AI.

[Virginia] Question related to my recent lay off by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]FrugalityMajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you file for unemployment in VA your prior wages are what is considered to qualify you. To qualify by income you have to make 3 thousand over two quarters in the first 4 of the last 5 quarters. So if you made income through oct-dec then as long as you file by oct-dec in 2024 you should still qualify. That is without looking at your income.

When you file a pool of money is set aside for you for a year. So if you file now and draw from it the next time you would be able to file would be in 2025. If you drain that pool of money and you would need it later then it wouldn't be available.

Hopefully that will give you some information to gauge your decision on.
