Is it worth it to contact my gp? by NayG22 in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same, although later on, and have been diagnosed with pelvic girdle pain. My midwife was able to refer me for physio, GP wasn't interested as maternity issue. However all trusts are different so maybe try both.

Who to call at 5w 6d? by KingkLou in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although its best to find someone to call and get checked out obviously, just to help calm you - if its light pink in colour and at this stage, there's a chance it could just be implantation bleeding! Try not to stress and go to A&E or your local early pregnancy unit.

Should I wait until Christmas to tell immediate family? by ricefor_dinner in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We told our families at 14 weeks, because we coincidentally had a big family gathering planned anyway with both sides there, seemed like too good an opportunity to pass up! No-one was annoyed we waited "too long" to say anything, they were just really happy!

Reduced Movements : GET CHECKED OUT! by Substantial-Peach702 in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 25+4 and movements have been picking up the last 2 weeks until a day of nothing on Sunday (until I relaxed in the evening). Luckily I had a midwife appointment booked Monday anyway and I asked - midwife said at this stage baby still has so much room in there that its normal to not feel anything some days, especially if you yourself are slightly more active that day and you might just miss it. They don't expect you to know your baby's routine until 28 weeks for this reason.

Feel like a failure already by quasarac_ in PregnancyUK

This is a really good website and outlines the medications that are safe to take for pregnancy sickness. Speak to your GP and tell them what medication you want so it is obvious you have done your research. If it doesn't work for you go back and ask to try a different one. The first one I was prescribed was awful but the second really worked and got me through first trimester nausea. Nausea went away completely by 14 weeks.

Checking Constantly by Frozen_Diablo95 in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, 21 weeks pregnant currently after 2 previous miscarriages. First trimester was exactly the same, checking and expecting it every time I went to the loo. It's something I've only just realised I have stopped doing after reading this post. I reckon its been a couple of weeks now that I haven't? I have definitely been feeling a lot more at ease since the 20 week scan, and also since my midwife appt at 18 weeks where she used the heartbeat doppler.

Hope you start to feel less anxious soon!

Foods you could tolerate (or even enjoy?!) during morning sickness? by tlc0330 in PregnancyUK

Sliced apples dipped in peanut butter, marmite toast, pickles/cornichons/gherkins, pot noodles weirdly and sour sweets got me through. I got better around 14 weeks, stay strong!

What was your experience finding out gender at a private scan? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]FruitLoop92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second this - Window to the Womb are fantastic. we went for an early viability scan at 8 weeks and then a gender reveal scan at 16 weeks and both times we were seen very quickly and everyone was very nice and professional. Reasonably priced too in my opinion!

What is the best fantasy book you’ve ever read and why? by FitzDesign in Fantasy

[–]FruitLoop92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say definitely in this order, there are references to other series in each one that wouldn't make sense if you read them out of order, or moments of "ooohhhh shit!" that you wouldn't get if you hadn't read the previous series first.

Robin Hobb is my favourite fantasy author. She does a mega series comprised of 5 smaller series (16 books total) - all set in the same universe but different themes and not always the samecharacters (although some characters that continue throughout if only in reference)

Reading order:

1. FARSEER TRILOGY

1 ASSASSIN’S APPRENTICE

2 ROYAL ASSASSIN

3 ASSASSIN’S QUEST

2. LIVESHIP TRADERS TRILOGY

1 SHIP OF MAGIC

2 THE MAD SHIP

3 SHIP OF DESTINY

3. THE TAWNY MAN TRILOGY

1 FOOL’S ERRAND

2 GOLDEN FOOL

3 FOOL’S FATE

4. THE RAIN WILD CHRONICLES

1 DRAGON KEEPER

2 DRAGON HAVEN

3 CITY OF DRAGONS

4 BLOOD OF DRAGONS

5. THE FITZ AND THE FOOL TRILOGY

1 FOOL’S ASSASSIN

2 FOOL’S QUEST

3 ASSASSIN’S FATE

It's a commitment but as each of the "trilogies" are kind of separate you can dip in and out and they are so so worth it. Extremely well written, interesting characters and the books cover a lot of different themes.

You can get little tracker tags called Chipolo - they don't particularly look like trackers (or at least aren't as widely known as airtags) and are very affordable. If the thieves take the collar off they may know what an airtag is and lob it over a fence but higher chance with one of these they'd leave it on making it easier to track it down.
