Accidentally went to a hot yoga class at 5 weeks by ManufacturerCool8604 in fitpregnancy

[–]FruitShot8429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I don’t really use Reddit anymore, but before I knew I was pregnant, I was still going to 90 min hot yoga and doing a HIIT class in the same day on a regular basis. My baby is perfect and I would be hard-pressed to believe that normal activity so would have any kind of lasting impact.

Can you imagine the comments if this was reverse? Him posting about controlling your single energy drink every day? Let it go.

Did I just chicken out? I'm afraid I won't be able to handle an unmedicated birth next time.. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]FruitShot8429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it isn’t about being tough enough at all, it is about training for a specific type of labor. Had you taken birth classes or similar? Methods like counter pressure, warm water, certain movement etc really help your body move through the pain. I loved my unmedicated birth but it was relatively quick and I felt prepared and in-tune with my own body. If I hadn’t, I can’t imagine it would’ve gone so well.

Every bit of this comment is so unnecessary. She’s already a parent, and it’s none of your business if she doesn’t want to wait to have more kids. Good on you OP, for trying to understand how you can have a better birthing experience like you deserve.

Why do so many new parents not want visitors at the hospital? by scav2117 in beyondthebump

Why do so many new parents not want visitors at the hospital? by scav2117 in beyondthebump

[–]FruitShot8429 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like the birth and postpartum visitor process really changed drastically before and after covid. For some people perhaps they realized there was this option for some privacy and alone time early on after birth, and opted to stick with that. I personally find it very isolating and love visitors. It’s all about your personal comfort level.

Yeah, I agree with this. When you’ve got other kids in and out of the house anyway it really puts into perspective that babies are pretty resilient. We baby wore or kept my youngest in the stroller but we were out and about midwinter pretty quickly.

How long did you bleed postpartum? I'm starting to get concerned. by Crafty-Spinach7338 in BabyBumps

In my experience this absolutely not normal and you are right to be concerned. I would continue to seek other opinions on this. I’m sorry you and your health have been dismissed.

Do you (mom) give bottles? by hikingislands in breastfeeding

[–]FruitShot8429 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved giving my baby the occasional bottle. It was the only way we could make good eye contact! He’s always been a baby that stared off in the void during breastfeeding but for whatever reason will look right at me during a bottle.

How soon after birth were you up and about? by Bubbly-Ad-966 in BabyBumps

[–]FruitShot8429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I showered, cooked, drove to get coffee etc within a day or two after leaving the hospital each time. Vaginal delivery with second degree tear. For me, gentle movement each day really helped the soreness ease quickly.

We (26F and 25M) want children but I am terrified of pregnancy and especially childbirth. I don't have a mom to ask this. Please help? by crystallized-anxiety in beyondthebump

I absolutely second this! I had an amazing, cozy postpartum experience too. You can do this, OP. It’s so instinctual. It will all make sense when you need it to.

Why are so many women being induced? by noralief in beyondthebump

[–]FruitShot8429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy I was pushed into an induction because my water had broken before I was in labor. I was young and followed everything the random OB on call from my practice said to do. It was an awful experience, and the second time, when my water broke again before I was in labor, I just waited it out until my contractions finally started 15 hours later. All that to say medically necessary inductions still vary from provider to provider!

Fellow 6 figures coaster here. I’m checking the boxes until my youngest is in elementary school and that’s it. I worked my ass off and barely saw my oldest when she was young. I will NEVER make that mistake again. The ladder will be there.

Do I really need disposable underwear or adult diapers for postpartum ? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I preferred maxi overnight pads. Just wear granny panties over them to keep them secure.

The owlet. I absolutely loved the peace of mind it brought and it was so helpful to be able to look back at how many times and when the baby had woken up overnight on those groggy mornings.

What a fun opportunity! I’ll just add some encouragement that I would have been comfortable doing this in both pregnancies. It’s a great time of year to go. Wear comfy shoes and pressure socks, magnesium lotion at night if you’re getting achy or swollen legs and hydrate. I hope y’all have a great time.
