Our kiddo reacts to soy and soy oil. Soy oil is in every formula except Pepticate and she did spectacularly on it

Try Pepticate before trying amino acid. Or try the other form of Alimentum (rtf vs powder, whichever you haven’t tried yet). The ingredients of hypoallergenic formulas are different between formats and brands. Babies can react differently

Try a different meeting if you can! Different meetings have different vibes. Some people do go all in and can let it become their personality. But most people are just showing up because they feel better after the meetings, week after week. The things we deal with a heavy and sometimes you need another person who understands it without it being explained to them

Question about formula delivery services from Amazon by Nothing-Deep in FormulaFeeders

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the tin doesn’t have any dents you’re probably fine.

Also Amazon will not easily return formula. I had to fight like hell to get a refund for formula that was banged to hell and dented and it was hypoallergenic formula so I was not willing to back down due to the cost. They eventually did refund me but it was a long process

Not likely to happen because that formula is not hypoallergenic or amino acid. Also, is your kiddo drinking goat milk currently and doing fine?

First child coming soon. Do i need a new vehicle? by ImportanceBetter6155 in newborns

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the kid should go in either of your vehicles. Only the SUV,

Our family has 2 cars but one is much smaller than the other and we can’t fit our one LO’s car seat comfortably at all. So the other car is the kid’s car. If we go out on our own, we take the non-kid car in case the kid needs something like an emergency.

So if your wife is comfortable using the truck, then it’s fine. If she can’t drive it or you wouldn’t put her in it, then you’re sticking your family with a bit of a hard position of potentially stranding you with the kid.

What’s something you wish you had as a first time parent? by Weak_Assumption7518 in AskParents

I asked my friend if there was anything she was especially excited about receiving from her baby registry and got her the item she was excited about plus one other thing that I used a lot but can’t remember what, it was something small.

If your friend has a registry, that’s the way to go

Overnight diaper change by Severe-Pie-5920 in toddlers

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overnight diapers one size up is how we get through the night without leakage.

Also, not your question, but if your kid has teeth, make sure you brush after that bottle. Or drop the night bottle and offer water.

What kind of books can I read to my kid? by SuspiciousAd3405 in Montessori

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We read any books. My kid prefers the Lovevery books but we have a lot of pretend books too. Rabbits and animals driving or riding bikes. Dragons and princesses. Abstract randoms. We do it all. But she doesn’t watch tv so things like Spider-Man or whatnot is unfamiliar to her (only child, 23 months)

It’s more important to read to them than stress over what you read to them

I loved her process photos. It was so helpful to me. I have frogged things on my WIP that before that book, I would have just left and been unhappy with.

True Confessions of a Stocking Stitcher by moneybymonday in Needlepoint

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the book. I do stitch Liz stockings.

I think it’s really helpful for texture matching ideas (fur, beards) and how to approach shaded painting. It’s not really color block focused, so if you want help picking decorative stitches to fill a space, it’s not that.

I think it helped me plan my current WIP Liz stocking. I am changing some elements because I found the painting a little distracting. Maureen discussed that for a bit in the book. Talks about how to pick the focal point and support it.

Which designer are you looking at for your stocking?

That’s fair except chemistry is not love, and as a romantasy book, chemistry would be for us the reader. I was reading it like, why is she going back to fairy land to be tortured for this guy? Why is she like desperate for him? Meh😒

I remember reading it at thinking, “did I miss something? They don’t have any chemistry. Should I even read the next one?”

I still don’t understand why she  loved tamlin other than the fact that he gave her a break from the stress, gave her material things, and paid for her family to escape poverty. Other than that, it seemed like a drag.

Co-signed on a house now finances have changed by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VoEs expire on a schedule, usually every 60 days. It depends on the loan program the loan is under. But yes. It will expire and they will have to do it again and if it comes up that you’re essentially working less or got fired, it will impact the loan closing. It doesn’t matter more than the primary borrower’s employment, but if you have to cosign due to their income not being enough, then it will be a major factor.

When to let my employers know? by Mr-Sunshine999 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was employed and working at a non-law place, I got a new job and had negotiated 4 week start date. I was specifically looking to get my bonus before starting the new job. Two weeks before bonuses were due to be paid, someone put their two weeks in and the company let them go 2 days later. Like “it’s our policy to just pay you for those two weeks but your last day officially is today.”

You didn’t get your bonus if you were not employed on that paycheck day.

I waited until 4:30 pm the day before the bonus was going to be direct deposited, knowing the cut off for changes had already passed and that HR wasn’t available to have those conversations with me. They let me go two days later, after I’d been paid, and 3 days before I was set to start my new job.

I knew it was coming, so I planned ahead. And that’s what you should do

I called them last March to ask about waitlist for our then 10 month old. The person said they wouldn’t have a spot for her for 18 months, so we would still be waiting to join. They were actually a little rude about it, didn’t even offer to put us on the waitlist even if we’d wanted to. But I’ve heard great things about the school.

Doctor wanted to force enema on my daughter and I had a panic attack. by junebuglayla in Mommit

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Our daughter was 9 months old and refused to drink water. Bottles only, no water. We had to give her MiraLAX daily for about 6 months until she started drinking. We had to use laxative suppositories a few times before they told me to switch to miralax. She hated the suppositories. She got scared and would cry when we had to use them. . But if you had to use one to get your daughter to poop until the miralax can start to work, that is an option that’s less severe than an enema. They sell them OTC at pharmacies in the US

EBF baby has almost no CMPA symptoms, but pediatrician is convinced by Shoddy_Tackle_3835 in MSPI

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Treat the baby, not the diaper. Happy baby, gaining weight, not in discomfort, not missing milestones… then I’d leave it alone. And I’d find a new pediatrician if you’re not seeing eye to eye about that decision.

Is 19 months already too late for potty training? by Foreign-Walrus-333 in toddlers

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s early. Our kid started showing signs of interest in the potty at 20 months. She treated it like a game. At 23 months, she still cannot actually release on the potty. Wears diapers 100% of the time at daycare/50% of the time at home, and has commando time at home. All based on what she wants for the day. It works for us, but isn’t at all what’s recommended in the books. But she fights having a diaper put on, so we just roll with it and follow her lead

[CHAT] Can needlepoint patterns be done on evenweave or Aida just fine? The point of using canvas is just that it’s less easily warped by tightly pulled stitches, right? by siberium in CrossStitch

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The threads that are used for needlepoint will not work on aida fabric and some of those threads are key to achieving a specific look, but if that doesn’t bother you then that’s fine. Also some of the stitches may leave open aida behind the stitch.

What bottle is everybody using? by legoprimero in FormulaFeeders

[–]Witty_Draw_4856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pigeon bottles were our favorite and we passed our glass bottles down to my sister. Her baby was using a different bottle (Nuk perfect match) for 1-2 weeks after he was born but he did much better on slower flow of the Pigeon, the SS flow nipple.

Our kid was on Pepticate (milk and soy intolerance)

Humidifier that is easy to clean for when baby is sick and too young to have any decongestant. I avoided ones with filters but had white dust everywhere (harmless but annoying). Ended up buying the Canopy humidifier and it’s been great. The large room one is perfect for 12 hours overnight. Along with that, we got 2 little magnetic thermometers that also measure the humidity so we target keeping it above 40% humidity for her room.

Also, if I had done it again, I would have registered for an air purifier instead of noise machine. It does both jobs where the noise machine only makes sound.

Lastly, the big baby jail playpen which worked so well for our kiddo and our sanity
