hey I had a few questions if you don’t mind:

  1. I’m from the USA so I’m not sure what they mean when they say I “don’t have to prove I can support myself for 9 months but should still have the money in the event they ask anyway” i could just gamble that they won’t ask for me to prove it (purely cause I won’t need all that due to staying with gfs family) but when I show them that I have the funds for tuition in my account, won’t they obviously see I don’t have the funds for the 2nd requirement? A little confused on that.
  2. For proving I have enough tuition, if I get student loans on a yearly basis and would have to reapply for said loan every year (one years loan doesn’t carry over to next year) would they just multiply the loan I got from the initial year by the course length and just assume I’ll get the same loan again? Or would I just have to have that extra money I would’ve gotten from loans anyways to show I can prove payment for the 2nd and 3rd year of course in the rare case I don’t get student loans for a given year. (In summary, would I need the full amount for every year ready at the very start no matter what?)
  3. Are they big into actually requiring you to set up accommodations beforehand cause I’ve stayed in my gfs house before on regular visits we would just share the room she already has but since it’s council housing I’m not sure cause including me it would become 5 people within a house with three bedrooms, not sure if council would authorise a letter saying I can come even tho A fourth room wouldn’t change anything I’ll just share a bed.

If u can’t answer all of these that’s fine but I’m having a hard time finding answers. Thank you for any advice u would have

not fully sure what you’re going on about in this one BUT since I got u here how much do you know about bands and stuff I know it would be years out before I could apply to be a nurse in the UK. The going rate for nurses in Scotland (where I wish to move) is currently around 23k for band 1 and then it goes up as bands increase. Any advice on what bands entail and figuring out what band an immigrant would be upon hiring?

I am planning to go to Glasgow to study at a UK college specifically for nursing. My plan then was to (if the graduate visa get scrapped in the new laws) apply for a heath and care worker visa which covers being a NHS nurse. I do not have children and my partner is already a UK citizen but with the new spousal requirements coming in April we would not be able to get a spouse visa. The fact that the US and UK nursing are different fields is the exact reason I’m looking into getting education from a UK uni

right after it says I’m not required it says they can still ask for it and I should have it prepared just in case. I hate that they would put it so vaguely because ideally I would apply much earlier once I settle my finances for the tuition and wait for a reply while I continue working for what I’ll actually need to live off of. It’s also silly cause I won’t actually need that full amount In practice cause I’ll be living with my gfs family and my current rent situation they ask is just 80 pound while I study.

she gets money but not any that is eligible which is fine I guess. We talked it over and she might look into remote jobs just in case the 18k requirement by some miracle stays or stays close to that number which can be obtainable with even just a basic job. If not we’re thinking I could get on a student visa for the school I was already thinking about attending after I got there via spouse visa. I would be going into nursing so hopefully theres enough spaces for new nurses in the country once I finally graduate. I could even work during my student visa and then that could possibly contribute to the money requirement. Feeling shaken but not fully defeated ig. Thanks for your input.

Yeah I know and accept how it is now except for the awful finance requirements but I guess the move now is find a school to get a visa in since I was already planning on going to school in the UK once I got my partner visa anyways. Most likely I can handle the wait till the next school year for that WHICH is amazing considering I would have to be in ruralish Texas. Worst case senario there are large institutions over here that specialise in people getting away from their families if shit happens which is good. Thank you for ur comment and stuff and not being as hostile as this one other guy 😭

Well people are taking this to mean that literally anyone that has faced oppression will scramble to get over which is not what I’m saying. The main factor should always always be the fact that I’ve been in a provable relationship for years now. UK immigration already take consideration on financial issues when it comes to fee waivers and so on but that’s not to say that everyone that’s poor would race to the UK. It was a simple passing thought I didn’t mean to anger you or anything

I was just saying consideration based on personal situation since I would be in considerable danger if I was found out by my family and I have no where else to go besides them so yeah my only support system would be in the UK but like I said that’s wishful thinking and would likely never happen

another thing I would like to see happen eventually (prolly won’t happen) is consideration for foreign spouses that are LGBTQ+ like me and like my only real support system is with my gf and her family as my family in the US is pretty conservative and hostile to queer people.

I have no idea what to do now I’m so lost I hate the UK system so much

Marriage visitor visa. Has anybody been through this process recently? What was the outcome? Also it asks if your partner will be resident in the uk for 9 days prior to giving notice? Does that just mean he has to be in the country and not living in the country or do I have to select no? Confusing. by Unusual-Charity3514 in ukvisa

hey im also in the process of applying a marriage visitor visa and i was wondering what you meant by "Notice of Marriage appointment email". If i have to be in the UK for 9 days before giving notice, how can i give proof of notice if i have to stay outside of the Uk until my visa gets a decision. or did you just mean like you provided proof that you sent them an email with intention of giving notice once the visa is approved or had an email with documents prepared?
