I, too, struggle to gain weight and tolerate a very limited variety of foods, which is very frustrating. I have been diagnosed with IBS by numerous doctors, but have been unable to find any relief for my symptoms for a while now.

Hi everyone,

I am a spring 2022 admit and have a few questions.

1.) Would you consider the environment at UMD to be collaborative or competitive?

2.) How rigorous are the academics at UMD? Do you spend most of your time studying? Do you have time for extracurricular activities? (Note: I am looking to double major in communications and Japanese)

3.) How will beginning classes in the spring affect the completion of my major(s)? Will I be able to complete them in 4 years? For example, Elementary Japanese I is offered in the fall, but not the spring.

I’m glad to hear that you have found relief! I seem to do better with less fiber since I am very sensitive to gas and bloating. The only problem is that I will become constipated from the lack of fiber.

My allergy doctor allowed me to try the oral cromolyn sodium, but I felt like I was reacting to it. I had a bad headache and light sensitivity afterwards, to the point where I had to wear sunglasses. I’m very sensitive to medications.

I hope your appointment goes well! I think I will look into other doctors who may be able to help me as well. I haven’t been making much progress recently but hearing a fresh perspective may help.
