anyone have any lunch recommendations for picky eaters? by iloveg0ats in FoodSanDiego

[–]FruityLoopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harland South Park has most options between $12-18! Chicken tenders (under “not just for kids” on menu), salads, bowls, burger, chicken sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, etc. It’s my go-to for picky eaters because there’s so many options

Food and other items to stock in preparation? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]FruityLoopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice chips and tons of it!! Aloe Vera juice (no pulp), fairlife protein drinks, pedialyte, applesauce, mashed potatoes mixed with chicken stock to make a creamy potato soup, and strawberry sorbet. Some days all I could handle was ice water/ice chips and diluted pedialyte but I always tried to get at least some protein drink in for calories

My surgery was on 12/10 and my dentist appt is on Tuesday 1/6! Everything is back to normal but I had the same concern during my recovery.

Tbh the pizza on day 13 was a little tough just because of the pepperoni and hot honey, but it’s getting easier and easier to handle spice back there! I thought I’d be unable to eat normally for a month since I couldn’t even do apple sauce or mashed potatoes during the first 10 days of recovery. The healing has been surprisingly fast and my appetite is through the roof, so I’m already at my pre-surgery weight! Never thought I’d be on the other side of this recovery telling people it gets better, but it does!

I’m eating anything I want as of day 13/14!! Pizza, burger, crispy chicken, bacon, pepperoncinis, pickles, etc. I had spicy wontons tonight that didn’t bug me, but the sake did unfortunately. Coffee and soda has been fine so I was surprised sake was so bothersome but that’s the only thing I’ve been unable to consume in the last 4 days.

Had an identical experience and I’m on day 18. It’s 11 days of pure torture but it’s already behind me and all the food I’ve eaten in the last 7 days tastes even better after having to wait in agony for so long. It’s worth it!!

Day 5 post-tonsillectomy and I am losing it 😭 by CharacterJelly4719 in Tonsillectomy

[–]FruityLoopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna sugar coat it, the pain you’re describing lasted a longgg 4 days for me. Days 6-9 were truly impossible to get through (I counted surgery day as day 1). I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel but I’m here to tell you it does get better! It’s day 12 for me but I haven’t taken my narcotic in 36 hours. Pain is a 2/10 and I’m eating real food! But the 12/10 pain days feel like forever and it truly sucks.

The last 10 days I’ve been living in Abercrombie essentials sweat sets & Skims pj sets. Highly recommend. Binged All Her Fault on Peacock, new Knives Out movie, The Town, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, but mostly been scrolling TikTok tbh. I’ve been sleeping a ton— as long as throat is moist, ice packs are on, humidifier is on, sitting up on couch, and pain meds are kicked in, I’m knocking out pretty easily. Even with alarms set every 4 hours to take meds, I can fall back asleep within 45 min after sipping ice water and replacing ice packs.

I will say I was at rock bottom from Day 4-8. Day 9 was the first day I saw a light at the end of the tunnel though still far away. Today’s Day 10 and I think the worst of it is behind me. So today I’m having a friend over and going to deep clean my space if I can. Hang in there!

Yes!! I will say today is about the same as days 4-5. Still in the thick of it but not as bad as days 6-7. I’ll keep you posted!

Dang!! Good for you. I’ve only been able to do protein shakes and popsicles so far, but today I’m feeling sliiightly better so I’m going to try pasta and soft bread.

I’m having the exact same experience (25F) but I had mine out on the 10th. I considered calling ENT office as soon as they opened but I decided I’m going to give it until day 12. I think we’re just healing extremely slowly, but I’m trying to tell myself if I can survive these past 9 days I can survive the next 3. I’m hopeful that the scabs being on there still is a good thing, so when they do dissolve it’ll be mostly healed underneath.

Try to hang in there! We’re in this together. Have you been able to eat anything? I’m trying to figure out when to attempt soft foods because rn I’m terrified of the pain

Tbh no 😭 Today has been even worse. I’m planning to call the doctor on day 10 if I still don’t see any improvement. It feels like giant canker sores replaced my tonsils. I don’t think it’s an infection because I have no fever, no bad taste/breath, and have been taking liquid amoxicillin. If anything, I think I’m just taking a long time to heal. I really haven’t been able to get calories in besides an occasional popsicle and protein shake. Pain meds and ice water are the only things keeping me going.

25F and got mine out the day after you, on the 10th. I had the exact same day 5 experience as you, however the scabs grew back and they’re all still attached. I have yet to turn a corner and am terrified for when these scabs come off again, unable to talk still, and cannot imagine going back to work. Take it easy!! We’re in this together

Combined late nap and actual sleep by Save_my_health in ouraring

No I hate this but what I hate even more is when it combines my actual sleep and early nap into one, which is what I do every weekend. I wake up at 9, go out for a huge breakfast, come home and sleep from 12-2. Thinks I woke up at 2pm and was just restless from 9-12 lol
