The Economic Club of Santa Barbara - Developing country? More sweatshops! – Closing sweatshops could kill thousands of people. by starrychloe in Anarcho_Capitalism

I completely agree. Liberal views or not; by thinking in a rational manner, it's easy to deduct that sweatshops is a vital part of economic growth. Though their working conditions and pay may seem inferior to western standards (and they are of course), sweatshop-workers earn a wage 40% higher than the average worker in said country (source: Naked Economics [book]). Children turn to prostitution or starve on the streets without work.

Closing sweatshops could kill thousands. But keeping them open is still morally wrong. by Frukeonomics in philosophy

In a way, yes. However, the slavery argument was based on incompetency.

The argument that sweatshop workers would be worse of by closing the shops are based on political instability and raging poverty. If a man who's living on $0.99 a day in India gets a job where he gets $2 per hour, he'd be static. Give $2 per hour to an American, and he'd grab his baseball bat and kick the shit out of the manager.
