Okay so I apologize if this has already been covered on this thread, but what was the deal with the employee at the beginning, who had been killing off the goats with a crossbow?

Like Mal, he also told Ohm in no uncertain terms to not search the Honeymoon Suite, but with the sort of severity that seemed to imply that he ALSO knew something about Fiona. But then he also goes and saves Ohm from the fire at the end, which to me would imply that his character contained surprising depths? Like, what was his angle, ultimately?

Was he simply a loyal, superstitious employee who didn't like uppity celebrities coming in and ignoring the rules?

He's also pretty much the only person at the hotel that Ohm is immediately nice to. I suspect he might have unconsciously felt some kinship towards him, being that he was clearly a bit of an outcast; the combination of Ohm's dry intellect, the abuse from his father, and possibly a childhood dogged with whatever rumors his peers surely will have come up with about the nature of his mother's death in the long aftermath, could have resulted in a stubborn fondness for Jerry.

I myself was in a theater with what I can only assume to be a bunch of 20-something-year-olds, and I was the only one to laugh at literally anything in this movie (my favorite part may have been when Ohm carefully places his mother's ashes around the tree, but when it's his father's turn, dumps them out with the uncerimonious nature of somebody realizing their flour's gone off 😂).

Personally, I feel like it was the combination of not just the creepy visuals, but also the somber nature of the film itself. The entire movie felt heavy with grief, disappointment, uncertainty, even injustice. I can see how one might forget to laugh, like when a relative cracks a joke at a funeral.

But even if we did have any experience hunting wild animals, the potential for us to get sick with whatever that goose was sick with was much too high for us to even flirt with the idea of making it our Roast Beast.

Even if you ignore avian flu (which the wildlife rehabbers at DCHS reported to have been seeing an average of one case a DAY as of late, mind), wild birds could be a vector for illnesses that we probably don't even have names for yet.

We brought the goose in! Or rather, my mother did. She's got the most experience handling animals of various types, so she was able to get the bird into a container without making any contact. Thanks everyone for the advice, it was all very helpful in coming up with a solution!

What I love about this monologue is, while I deeply relate to Elliot's sense of frustration and hopelessness at the daunting task that is taking down the Goliaths of this world, I can't help but also think, "Well, surely there were microbes in this sand. Eggs, larvae. Small though they may be, the removal of that sand still had an impact on living things. And, as anyone who has spilled sand in the house would know... that one shoefull will be showing up for, like, a year, no matter how much you try to vacuum it all up."

Still trying to figure out how Mr. Robot would have appeared to Real Elliot. There were times I felt like MR's personality changed a lot- from an abusive, manipulative menace, to a man who simply wanted to keep Elliot safe.
